let's hear from bluelight golfers.

i grew up in scotland where golf is extremely accessible. when i moved to the u.s. i stopped playing for quite a few years. now i'm living in south lake tahoe, opportunities to golf are everywhere. we have a small (9-hole) municiple course right in town. it's perfect for a quick after-work golf fix and it's only $12 after 3:00pm. here's a link: bijou golf.

there are, within a 45 minute drive of here, about 8 or 10 18-hole courses. i would play at lake tahoe golf course but, while it's a great course, it's a bit pricey for my budget. i also play pretty regularly at genoa where there are deals to be had and both the resort and lakes courses are really nice.

i am working at edgewood golf course this summer. it's one of the most beautiful courses i have played but it's also pretty tough. the setting is spectacular:

i'm typically going to shoot a 100-110 on a regular course. my short game - in particular my putting - is pretty strong but i'm weak off the tee generally and i have a real problem getting distance with my mid to long irons.

i was playing bijou today and hit a great tee shot to about 14 inches on one of the par threes - i can have a shitty round but one great shot like this makes me keep coming back for more:

let's see pictures of where you play and stories of shots both great and awful!

Oh damn... I'll have to contribute photos later since I have none at the moment, but I'm glad you started this thread! I'm an avid golfer.

There are some nice courses around here. Deer Ridge in Bellville, OH is easily the nicest for the price and distance from me. I haven't played a ton of courses outside of my area, but I've played in Connecticut (Tunxis Plantation) and Myrtle Beach, SC (Aberdeen and Arcadian Shores).

I, for a small build, get a ton of distance on my drives because I coil up and usually have a pretty consistent swing. My irons are easily my strong suit though. I know exactly how long I can hit each of my clubs, which naturally makes the whole decision process a lot simpler. My putting is by far my weakest attribute. It often ruins my whole round. If I take the time to read the puts, I can usually get a good line, but my shitty depth perception makes it difficult for me to get the right speed on the ball. I'm often too short or too long. It's one of the reasons I've developed so much accuracy with my irons, cause I can't put for shit.

There are a couple short par 4s on some of the courses I play where I've driven the ball within 2 feet of the pin... I'll still 2 put for a god damn birdie!

good thread ali.

It's been a while since I've swung the sticks, but I've played a good number of courses throughout California and a few in Hawaii as well.

Village and Plantation courses at Kapalua stick out the most as the most enjoyable, as well as the Aviara Course in Carlsbad. A really great public course is Balboa in the heart of San Diego. Pretty cheap if I recall and the views are great. Not the most challenging course but fun. Plus if you like disc golf, there's a world class course right by it.

Will post pics later

alasdairm, did you fix your ball mark? :p
of course i did!

i normally repair my pitch mark and a couple of others which i see when i'm on the green. it's such a simple task to fix a pitch mark and it's annoying that some people don't bother...

funnily enough, i was playing the same course with a friend of mine the next day and he had to putt right over my (beautifully repaired) pitch mark :)

Another golfer here, although it's been a while since I got out on the course. I am more of a businessman Hacker. I good enough to head out for a business meeting without embarassing myself but I have severe limitations to my game.

I'm handy with my short game and have learnt to tame/utilize a natural slice off the tee. ;) The weather here at the moment is perfect and if I didn't have a stupid course this Saturday I was going to take the little lady out for a swing (well she is just excited to drive the buggy).

I'm looking forward to the British Open being back at St Andrews Old Course this weekend. One of my many regrets in life is not playing a round there many years ago.

Yeh, i play a bit too.

Spend most sunday mornings ruining a good walk, play off about a 20 hcp and hit generally anywhere between 90 and 110.

If you guys like a good golf game on the computer check out the world golf tour, it is a little addictive though so be warned
