Election 2020 The Final Countdown v. Nov. 3rd

Although I'd say trump is doing better too. Although it's hard to believe he wouldn't after the last train wreck debate.

Every conservative I know has been crying for Trump's team to muzzle him in these situations. Dude shoots himself so much more accurately in the foot than Joe can.

Yeah, I have to admit Trump is doing pretty well compared to the first debate.

And part of that is likely the use of the mute button preventing Trump from Trumping himself into the shitter. I read somewhere the 'interuptions" according to the moderator was like 42 (Trump) to 2 (Biden). Conservatives were complaining Trump kept getting cut off (time limit, DUH!) and Biden hardly ever was...then they justified it that Biden was running out of steam, never needed the full 2 minutes because he lacked substance and was only deflecting.

It’s amazing how low my bar is for Trump. If he’s not behaving like a crazy person, I find myself thinking “wow, good job”.
I’m shocked these two men are the ones we have to pick between, but it’s at least an easy choice for me.

How low is your bar for Biden? I won't argue the low bar for Trump, he's proven to hit his head on it repeatedly. I'm just curious if the bar for Biden is "just not Trump" which seems to be the main campaign platform.

Not trump is a huuuge draw for me.

You'd have to be pretty fucking bad to make me prefer trump.

I honestly think Trump poses a severe threat to America's future. And in many ways the entire world future. I fear for what America will look like if it has to endure another 4 years of him.

So yeah. All bidens gotta do is not be trump, which is to say, not be clearly a narcissistic egomaniac who can't take advise, and I'd rather see him be president.

It's a real low bar.

Yeah I kinda wish they hadn't used mic mutes. Letting trump be trump in front of non trump fanatics seems like the best way to kill his reelection prospects.

He almost doesn't need a platform because Trump is grandstanding so much that the cameras/eyes won't leave him.

He's the Celebrity President, who wouldn't film him? Even an alien race if they showed up would be more puzzled by the orange and gaudy one than they would someone who looks like the rest of us.

My bar is my bar, which is why I voted for Jo, not Joe.

I continually ask myself, how does anyone actually support trump? What.. Goes through someone's head to see how trump behaves, and think it's OK.

I figure a lot of the time it's just that trumps supporters are assholes and so don't really care about how utterly morally bankrupt he is.

There's a few published answers to this

You created us

I haven't said too much about this election since the start....but this is how I feel.... I'm noticing that a lot of you aren't graciously accepting the fact that your candidate lost. In fact you seem to be posting even more hateful things about those of us who voted for Trump. Some of you are apparently "triggered" because you are posting how "sick" you feel about the results. How did this happen you ask? Well here is how it happened!

You created "us" when you attacked our freedom of speech.
You created "us" when you attacked our right to bear arms.
You created "us" when you attacked our Christian beliefs.
You created "us" when you constantly referred to us as racists.
You created "us" when you constantly called us xenophobic.
You created "us" when you told us to get on board or get out of the way.
You created "us" when you attacked our flag.
You created "us" when you took God out of our schools.
You created "us" when you confused women's rights with feminism.
You created "us" when you began to emasculate men.
You created "us" when you decided to make our children soft.
You created "us" when you decided to vote for progressive ideals.
You created "us" when you attacked our way of life.
You created "us" when you decided to let our government get out of control
. You created "us" the silent majority.
You created "us" when you began murdering innocent law enforcement officers.
You created "us" when you lied and said we could keep our insurance plans and our doctors.
You created "us" when you allowed our jobs to continue to leave our country.
You created "us" when you took a knee, or stayed seated or didn't remove your hat during our National Anthem.
You created "us" when you forced us to buy health care and then financially penalized us for not participating.

And we became fed up and we pushed back and spoke up.
And we did it with ballots, not bullets.
With ballots, not riots.
With ballots, not looting.
With ballots, not blocking traffic.
With ballots, not fires, except the one you started inside of "us" "YOU" created "US". It really is just that simple. ;

From 2020: (link has a quick survey in order to read the article)
To answer all of those of you who would say, “I can't believe you would vote for Trump.” I'm not just voting for him. I'm voting against socialism. I'm voting for the Second Amendment. I'm voting for the next Supreme Court justice. I'm voting for the Electoral College and the constitutional republic we live in. I'm voting for the police, and law and order. I'm voting for the military, and the veterans who fought and died for this country. I'm voting for the flag that I love. I'm voting for the right to speak my opinion and not be censored. I'm voting for secure borders. I'm voting for the right to praise my God without fear. I'm voting for every unborn soul the Democrats want to murder. I'm voting for liberty, freedom and the American dream. I'm voting for good against evil. I'm not just voting for one person, I'm voting for the future of my country.

In net, while there are some who revel in the trollery of Trump, a man who will push back as hard (or harder) than we feel the left has pushed against us and our beliefs; the real reason is not Trump. It's not a vote for an offensive individual, it is because there is no other option that aligns any closer with our values that have been trampled upon, sidelined, and shunned. The reasons listed in those two letters are not universal, not applicable to EVERY conservative or republican, but many of them apply to many who support Trump. The vote is for what we want our nation to be, not for the individual in the White House so much as for the best path to returning America to what we want it to be.

Debated putting this in the meme thread...but it's true, not funnery. I'd put it in the 3rd Debate thread (mods move if it's better there)....but I didn't see such a thread.

I'll cut some slack to someone in Georgia who has likely never been to the border....but.....I've never been their either, and I know what a coyote is

You don't love your country then vote for a man who constantly undermines your countries democratic system. Saying the vote is rigged, threatening to lock up his political opponents. Tries to prevent people being able to vote against him. Talks about ignoring term limits and refusing to leave office if he loses.

You don't love your country then vote for a man who uses federal agencies to essentially kidnap people off the street, or tear gas peaceful protestor for a photo OP.

You don't love your country then vote for a man who constantly does everything in his power to divide it. Who uses division, and turning Americans against each other for his political gains.

The kinda people I see backing trump don't love America. They say they do, but what they love is their personal idea of America. An America where there is no rule of law, where the state can do whatever it wants to undesirables.

They only care about their rights, not anyone else's.

why four terms? why not three terms? or eight terms?

alasdair

remember when conservatives were for less government, not more? They were anti-tyrant, pro term limits, and they wanted to drain the swamp? Now they are literally and unironically begging to be become a monarchy.

^ oh sure.

many republicans talk about how the government has no right to tell you what to do. unless you want to smoke a joint or have an abortion. then they're all about the full-weight of that unholiest of entities - big government. some hail the 'god emperor'.

Donald Trump receives heavy backing to win election during debate, only 1 in 4 bets placed on Joe Biden

Just one in four bets placed on the US presidential election during Thursday's debate backed Joe Biden to win, with the vast majority being placed for Donald Trump, according to a betting site.

Oddschecker, which compares odds offered by dozens of bookmakers, said the president had received "heavy backing" while the two men were on stage.

The president attracted wagers from 73 percent of those placing bets during Thursday's second and final head-to-head in Nashville, Tennessee.

Just 25 percent of wagers went on Biden, with the remaining 2 percent made up of more speculative bets on Mike Pence and Kamala Harris.

Personally, I'm too cautious to predict winners ahead of time, and am even hesitant to indicate what I believe is likely to happen. But, with all the polls leaning Biden (more, or less, than they did for Hillary?), I don't think we can trust those much. Vegas? They have a vested interest in what is likely to happen.

Wow. So much material to work with here. Let's begin, shall we?

Voter fraud is real, and has been occurring for decades. Without saying which party is behind it (looks in general direction of NJ, California, Chicago, Detroit), to say it ISNT happening is either naive or delusional.

Locking up opponents? Who created the RussiaRussiaRussia and attempted to impeach a President on fabricated information? Who spied on their political opponent and approved use of gov't agencies to undermine him?

Who claimed Biden shouldn't concede under ANY circumstances? Who has repeatedly asked Trump if he'd leave if he lost and avoided accepting on loss on their side should the votes work out that way?

When you point a finger, there is generally three others with it pointed back at yourself. Glass houses and all.

So, are these things true of Trump? To varying degrees I'd say yes. Are they true of Democrats? To varying degrees I'd say yes. Does that make either party any better than the other? I'd say no.

You don't love your country then vote for a man who uses federal agencies to essentially kidnap people off the street, or tear gas peaceful protestor for a photo OP.

The photo op was a fuckup, I'll agree. The Portland situation is a) created by the Democratic leadership in that city allowing and promoting the rioters to break the law, b ) strengthened by that Democrat leadership both encouraging the protests and requiring law enforcement stand down, c) infringing on the rights of the citizens who live there and are not part of the riotous groups, d) not protecting public property or upholding the law or public safety in any way. Sending in federal assistance is required by both the law and the failure of the local Democratic leadership. Trump sending them in is his duty, and one I'd beg for him to perform should this shit be happening in my town.

Flip it - you believe the takeover of cities and destruction of public and private property is to be accepted or encouraged? If so, would you be in amongst them? If not, what should have been done both before (to prevent) and after (to deal with it)? Easy to point fingers and say a reaction is wrong, but try offering something a little deeper in terms of if the situation should be happening at all, and what should be done about it.

You don't love your country then vote for a man who constantly does everything in his power to divide it. Who uses division, and turning Americans against each other for his political gains.

This didn't start under Trump. He didn't put race out there as a factor to wedge people apart. Democrats (Obama in particular) highlighted that cops are unfairly targeting blacks. Democrats run on "if you dont vote for us you aint black", not Trump. Media has hounded Trump recently to denounce white supremacy groups, which he has; and at the same time not challenged Democratic leadership on their relationship with black or white racist organizations. Democrats run on 'gay pride', singling out a portion of the population to make them a separate group needing protection, needing attention, needing the help of those Democrat leaders. Democrats have a history of using division, identity politics, as a means of trying to generate political power. What has it done for those groups? Democratic cities are on fire, generations of blacks remain in poverty and high crime areas.

Trump has spoken to Americans, regardless of race, religion, color, creed, background, education, or any other divisive differentiator - he has spoken to them as Americans and said he will lead them to economic prosperity, the American dream of doing more, being more. Jobwise, that was fulfilled until COVID hit (glance at employment numbers, GDP, etc). He will say he's done more for black Americans, as a response to Democratic leaders who said 'those jobs arent coming back' AND as a reality given record high employment. He doesn't speak to a segment of the population to say "I am here for you, you matter to me". He speaks to ALL of the poplation to say "WE can do better, and WE will". And, WE have.

Trump will win in a landslide and the fringe left will pull a Belarus, disputing the result as a rigged election (i.e. color revolution).

Come to think of it, maybe Euromaidan is a better comparison than Belarus, in light of the Biden family's suspicious meddling in Ukrainian domestic affairs at the time.

In fact, the Biden family's involvement in Ukraine is a saga worth reading about. If that doesn't hit you over the head with the truth then nothing will.

The truth is that democracy and elections are just a sideshow for the real power struggle. If those in power don't like the way the public votes, they can just create the illusion of mass dissent and pull a color revolution to overturn the will of the people.

Dude, just... really? Not the first part, the second part where you think there shouldn't be term limits for presidents. Term limits were a great idea.
two term limits is to low though. If anything it should of been three. Two just means if a really good president comes in america will be screwed by the next guy elected after 8 years.

The real problem is that really good presidents are so rare in the first place.

You'd never get me to agree with increasing the term limit though. It's too dangerous.

Trump will win in a landslide
if you define landslide, do you want to discuss a wager? money, or perhaps just an avatar bet (loser has to sport an avatar of the winner's choosing on bl for a month)?

@TripSitterNZ also predicted a trump landslide but didn't seem confident enough in his own prediction to make a real wager.

let's do it!

i read today that we're almost at the total number of people who voted for trump in 2016 (in total) in early voting for all candidates.

i don't know what, if any, conclusions can reasonably be drawn but, regardless the result, more people participating in the process is a good thing...

early voting seems to be improving around the western world. I think people are more invested in elections now due to the covid crisis.

With borat exposing how easy it is to setup honey traps on high ranking people you would think they would be given orders not to fall to things like that. Its exactly how foreign intelligence operates put a hot young women as a honey trap for these old men then blackmail them.
