Election 2020 The Final Countdown v. Nov. 3rd

Can someone who is supporting Trump here address his blatant attempts to suppress mail-in ballots that is happening right now? How he wants counting stopped for places where he has already pulled ahead, and not stopped where he is not ahead? Doesn't that concern you? Or is it more like, as long as your side wins, that shit is okay? What would you say if Biden was saying this stuff? What if Obama had said it? Don't you see how it's unconstitutional and shits in the face of the democratic process? How can you accept this sort of behavior?

So break it down for an Irish girl... who’s leading? Who looks like winning. It’s all very confusing.

Biden and Biden.

But trump is throwing a tantrum and wants court dates and for votes to stop being counted now.

No...they will all be counted and he will lose.

EDIT: Its VERY close, though. There were so many mail in votes this year it will take time to go through them all. And most mail in votes are for Biden. Why Trump wants them to be stopped (he is once again making up new laws as they suit him).

It's incredibly close. I'd say Biden is ahead, but only just. Basically different states are afforded a certain number of electoral points. People vote for the candidates in each state and whoever wins the majority of votes in that state wins the corresponding points for said state - it's winner takes all for each state (with the exception of Nebraska I think). The first candidate to reach 270 electoral points wins. This is called a "first past the post" election. It's a really dumb system and should be replaced with a popular vote and ranked choice voting imo. It could come down to a mere 3 points. That's my spark notes version Irish girl ;)

the result in wisconsin has yet to be certified and the trump campaign just announced they will contest the result.

in wisconsin, a candidate may request a recount, 10 days after a certified result, if the difference in the results is <= 1%

This is what I want to know.
Unsurprisingly the usual suspect's are quiet.

Guess they're deciding if they really wanna go along with the argument that counting the votes after some cutoff that exists only in Donald trumps mind is illegal voting after the polls close.

I'm not listening to much of the noise, turned it all off last night. As such, I can't attest to what states he is trying to halt and under what circumstances. Several states will be close, and whichever party loses is sure to contest it regardless just to see if there is a legal way to flip the result. That will have to work itself out in courts.

What I can speak to specifically, and I assume it is one of Trump's concerns, is here in PA the counting is allowed to continue through 3d past last night (no biggie if things were kept fair as every vote cast gets counted it just takes a bit more time). Add to that the decision that signatures don't have to match on the voter file, and don't even have to be postmarked. The first half of that says anybody with a pen can be filling out ballot after ballot after ballot and no way to verify it is one vote per eligible citizen. The second part of that indicates the 3d window of counting can allow for 'found' ballots to suddenly appear from nowhere (or, from that individual filling out ballot after ballot after ballot and no traceability). To counteract that, one has to assume the elections officials have confined where all ballots are held and closed those doors by the 'must be received deadline', for reference:

PA

November 6, 2020
Mail-in and absentee ballots (postmarked before 8 P.M. on election day) must be received before 5 P.M. by your county election office. The November 6th deadline applies to ballots that have been returned by mail ONLY. Ballots may NOT be delivered in-person to your county board of elections after 8 p.m. on election day, November 3..
November 10, 2020
Last day for County Boards of Elections to receive voted military and overseas absentee ballots (submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 P.M. on November 2)

Here's a site that explains - Election night marks the end of one phase of campaign 2020 – and the start of another

However, with no post stamp, who's to say ballots aren't still being filled out en masse and turned in?

^^That's a real example in the state where I live, and doesn't broach the concerns over mail-ins that were sent 'on time' but filled out en masse by a sweatshop given sigs don't have to match anything. Nor all the ballots sent to deceased or no-longer-resident addresses and filled out by anyone sitting at that residence now :\ Also very real possibility without much means of policing (tracing down or proving either way).

The argument against these concerns may be that 'anyone can fill those en masse ballots out, even Trump supporters'. But then you have to look at WHERE those are turning up to be counted, and which candidate is overwhelmingly being helped by them :\

I suppose (and this is straight out of my backside), places he's pushing for more counting in hopes it will help him is places like

And there are the military overseas ballots with a deadline still a week out (who knows which way that will lean).

Again, I'm not listening to news, I don't know where he is pushing for more counting and where he is asking for it to stop, nor what reasons are being given. I'd bet a ham sammich he's spouting off like usual where the honking noise can be confused with a flock of geese overhead. In my book, all states should count until all votes are counted; but all states need to have transparency and integrity over the process so that nobody from either party can be gaming the system with late submissions, or unverifiable votes.

I get newscasts wanting to 'be first' to call a state, but it hasn't been consistent from what I've (limited) observed. I periodically check politico

But as I say, inconsistent. They gave VA to Biden when there were only 40% of the votes in and Trump was ahead 58/40 early on. I know enough math to know when the % of 'expected votes' outstanding is enough to sway the state one way or another you shouldn't 'call' the state. I'm a bit sick of reading conservatives from last night and into this morning crying why states weren't called for Trump already when there is 90%+ of the expected votes in and Trump leads (albeit by under 3pts)....dumb asses, there are enough votes out there to flip it still. However, their cries are fueled by states being 'called' for Biden with less than 50% votes collected...again, no consistency from the 'news' sources.

I'm also smart enough to know there can be an expected lean from the outstanding votes based on how a particular county has historically voted, so the news might say someone is likely to take it....but don't call it until it is mathematically an extreme likelihood. And, that means acknowledging that if you reach 98% of the expected votes...there can be unexpected votes still coming in, though there shouldn't be a significant number.

TL;DR, dont call states until ALL the votes are counted.

EDIT: There is a significant influence of calling states early. This was evidenced in a previous election where results called out of Florida led to west coast voters not showing up, assuming their vote wouldn't move the national election. This is stupid on the part of voters = your vote doesn't count and doesn't matter IF YOU DONT VOTE! otherwise, it does matter. AND, it is stupid on the part of news sites wanting to provide news, even if it is premature and false (intentionally trying to mislead the public as conservatives cry about, or honest mistakes in reading and estimating the remaining votes coming in). I'd prefer nobody is allowed to call the state until all we reach that mathematical certainty, and the news stations don't have the credibility to do so.
