The Ferguson thread / additional race discussion

My point being, this isn't a game.

Even nuttys article made my point. Not a game but there was definitely more to this than the untimely death of a young person.

Anarchists, racial power groups, communists, would-be revolutionaries, anti-police groups and the Democrat Party have all attempted to exploit the shooting and the botched police response to further their personal and political agendas.

^Sure.

But on the other hand, even if it turns out that the officer did what he had to, this response by protesters didn't erupt from nowhere. The reaction to the Rodney King verdict didn't erupt out of nowhere. The Watts riots didn't erupt out of nowhere. There are systemic issues that events like this shooting underscore.

There are no "winners" and "losers" here. There are deep rooted systemic problems that will continue regardless of how this particular incident went down or how it will end legally.

I have something called the 'free stuff' theory. I will have to do a write up at some point. I will say Ferguson was severely lacking in minority officers.

Maybe you guys are right.

Maybe racism doesn't exist anymore.
Maybe white people are an oppressed majority in the US.
Maybe police militarization is a good thing.
Maybe inner city black communities have every opportunity that middle class white communities have.
Maybe socio-economic repression doesn't exist in 2014.
Maybe more black males are in prison than enrolled into colleges because they're just bad people.
Maybe the police aren't prejudiced afterall.
Maybe the judicial system is hunky dory.
Maybe riots occur just so a few happy people can get free snacks and tvs.

Or maybe you have a few things to learn about the country you live in and how it operates on a structural level.

Ooh ooh tell me more professor

Love it when the privileged white guy speaks for the African American community. Good times

Much of what he said applies to white trash as well as other minorities. Keep shooting yourself in the foot. For the short term it actually benefits many of the people trying to protect the socio-economically repressed.

lol nobody is listening you. You post in a politics forum on bluelight

Lol, says the dude with 12,470 posts since Feb 2012.

Lol it's so funny seeing people in this forum trying to make white people look like the problem in America. Defending all of the lies made up by the media.. can't even think for themselves anymore, just need shit spoon fed to them

Everything is racist now

You sound just like one of the KKK members that was interviewed in a documentary I watched.

Was it the need for a new television that encouraged the looting?

I think the "why not?" attitude that occurs in the midst of chaos encouraged the looting. This happens during everything from race riots to footie hooligan riots and is pretty much common sense.

The important thing to focus on is why there is such an angry response that precedes this opportunism. The media and commentators will use the opportunism as a means to discredit the broad response by focusing on a store being emptied rather than the larger issue at hand.

Then go back to the Lounge funny pages where you belong.

A bit of common sense gets thrown at you and your only defense is to stick your fingers in your ears..
