He had according to the officer already assaulted him, and this was enough to cause bodily injury.
Now this 300 lb 6'4" man is turning around and coming back toward him, and still being defiant. He may be on his way to pummel him again.
I may have handled it all differently.
What if the cop was a smaller female and this guy had injured her face/assaulted her, and then turned around to come back at her?
What about a regular citizen?
I've got a gun, this guy comes at me after assaulting me once, I'm going to fire a couple of shots at his feet and warn him, depending on his distance, and if he takes one more step I'm aiming center.
The multiple shots could have been losing his head, or perhaps Brown really kept coming at him. 6 feet 4 and 300 lbs is a lot of man. Not to mean he can take more bullets, but he can be intimidating.
