the enneagram im a SEVEN :)

Some of those questions I felt were repetitive, and others I felt were too closely connected in answer, but apparently I'm a Type 7 and not a Type 4.

AND I'm an INTJ too, but borderline on the I and J.

I knew it, five is me. I knew before I took the test. Yes, I am a five.--yes red haze u seem like a five! i have a close guy friend who is a five, and so is my brother..hmmm....anyway u know what else is freaky? im a true blue seven, and one of the childhood experiences attributed to a seven is a feeling of separation from the mother at an early age, maybe because of the arrival of another sibling too early on. EXACTLY. This is what happened to me and i still remember the exact moment my sister was born and i was bewildered and felt abandoned. I was one and a half years old.

It didn't work for me either :\ If I had to guess, I'd say I'm a four, or maybe a seven.

I'm an ENFP. My Dad is a psychologist so he sat me down with a Myers-Briggs test when I was about 4 and I've always been an ENFP (having done the test maybe 6 times over the past 17 years).

i got the same score on 5, 7, and 8. The choices for the questions, as others have said, were too limiting..

I'm an ENTJ, I believe, btw.

oops, nope I'm an ESTJ

I think the enneagram sucked balls. For every single pair of answers I wanted to put "both, at various times in my life". I also think I could be any of the nine types, depending on my mood. :\

I'd be interested to know if any analysis of the validity of the ennegram system has ever been attempted....

As for the idea of personality inventories, I think that people need to realize that each of us is an individual and will only conform to the various dimensions of the categorization to a greater or lesser degree, and that personality is not static, it changes over time.

I prefer measures like the MMPI-2 because rather than assigning you to a category, your personal traits are measured across a spectrum of traits on a continuum. Also, the number of possible scales to be employed is endless. All you need to do in order to measure a new dimension of personality is identify a population with varying levels of this dimension (example would be "addiction acknowledgement"). Measure their levels with existing validated instruments. Then find what statements or beliefs the people in each of the varying levels have in common. Include these statements in the new subscale. People who agree with a statement which is significantly more prevalent among people in a higher level get a slightly higher score on that particular item.

However, there are also a couple truthfulness scales... because people may be motivated to lie on personality tests should they be able to see through the scoring system. That is another reason I like it. You can pretty much get anything you want to get on most personality inventories by just mindfully selecting what you OUGHT to feel versus what you do feel. The MMPI's items do not always appear to be related to what they are measuring on their face.

Type Two
The Helper. The caring, interpersonal type. Twos are empathetic, sincere, and warm-hearted. They are friendly, generous, and self-sacrificing, but can also be sentimental, flattering, and people-pleasing. They are well-meaning and driven to be close to others, but can slip into doing things for others in order to be needed. They typically have problems with possessiveness and with acknowledging their own needs. At their Best: unselfish and altruistic, they have unconditional love for others.

This is sooo me!

I am a five, a four, and a nine...

5=investigator
4=individualist
9=peacemaker

i see myself in all of these equally... with some understanding on how they work off of each other and the other instincts represented in the enneagram diagrams.

all instincts are correlational.

I would say the most dominant findings of myself would be in 5.

I am a 5, then 4 and 9, i don't know.. i'd have to look into it more...

(heh, i would always get emotional when i'd see movies where enemies would shake hands with an understanding gaze, serenity)

I tested as a 3 on the test, but suspect I have a significant 5 influence as well.

I have tested as a couple different things on the MBTI but most consistently have tested as an INTJ. It definitely fits. I am a moderately expressed introvert, believe it or not. ;)

i get the same scores for 5/6/7

investigator/loyalist/enthusiast

and i'm an ENFJ in the mb stuff

this is good.. i think this might mean people are starting to realise their strengths.. or already have.. whatever :)

Just reading some of ken wilburs writings... made me feel confident that i'm on the right path...

stuff i've sensed all along.. maybe not all along.. but somewhat....

btw.. on that one test.. whatever it is.. I tested INFP.....

yet in that same test, where it judged thinking and feeling.. and another one.. i forget.. i tested very near on each of the scores.. and on the thinking/feeling i tested 20/20.. heh

I love all these personality tests - enneagrams, myers-briggs & all the rest - also astrology and chinese astrology. But I have to say I don't see any use for it outside entertainment. It doesn't change the way that I act, or inform my decision making at any time. What about anyone else?

i guess not really me either.. i just see it as having potential..

i mean, who's to say that some of this stuff is or isn't real.. who has real proof that we're REALLY real... outside of ourselves.......

nobody.

you just have faith in something
and that becomes reality.

and it spreads...

this is something that implements very rational attributes.. and i feel it pretty much explained me... yet i tied on three different ones... and i really don't know exactly what i am.. i think maybe an investigator definately/dominantly. Then i am an individualist... then i try to make peace...

i follow those patterns most of the time.

I forget what my wing scores were, but i know they were disproportionate...

it is funny though... not to be egoistic or anything.. (trying not to be i'll say that)... my mayan kin is four dot and yellow planetary seed. i can see many connections in many tests that i take, what subjects i excell at, what topics i'm best at tackling, my attitude in life...

The enneagram has been used for a long long time. It's foundation is very sturdy. Many adopt it's principles, such as Ken Wilbur, who inspired some of the band Tool's works and directions (maybe just identified with). He incorporates it's structure into everything. His reality view is so orderly and understandable, yet broad, infinite, open ended.

I don't know.. i am always a skeptic.. but this test really put a nail on my personality frame

I like it.. going through some life changes, anyways!
time to get my shit goin

Well I wouldn't group the tests with astrology personally. They are a world apart (sorry, just the J coming out there). The tests are very useful in terms of insight. For example, suppose someone in work is communicating in a way that confuses and stresses you. With tests like these you can understand better where you and they are coming from. IMHO that kind of information is more important (and beneficial) than any academic course.

Personal insight - how could you say that isn't useful ?
