Wrote these lyrics not longer after my ex-girlfriend had her tongue pierced and not too long before we broke up.

Punctured Acid Tongue.

Spilling this ink onto a page
Then screaming it out in a musical rage
Stuck down here like a rat in a cage
My weary mind seeking shelter from this fray.
Frail and bedazelled by all I've seen
My heart split wide open by these these shattered dreams.
Picking up the pieces fallen in the sand
Dealing with the grit, time to be a man.
I see the sun setting, casting our shadows long,
Times nearly up for this noble cause.
From walking this path hard lessons I've learned
Put your nose to the grindstone
Watch yourself burn.
Never trust and never believe
The words of those who's beauty runs only skin deep.
People delude themselves and people dream,
People are never what it is they at first seem.
Such lessons as these, learnt on the run,
Taught hard and fast
By your punctured acid tongue.

i love that image: "punctured acid tongue," imaginative and vivid word choice there. honest and personal: you trusted your own words ie: there really was a pierced tongue. but it says so much more.

"never trust and never believe"

i hate that feeling, the pain so overwhelming that it seems final.

pour you trust into your writing - those small details - its beautiful.

do i sense a hint of billy corgan here? ;)

Nice work - i relate. I'm not there now, but i know that painful sting of hurt when you make realisations such as these.

If this is a song, i'd love to hear it - got mp3's?
