The EADD Mental Health Support Thread

That stuff makes me hurl knock, funny it never used to:?

The advice seems to suggest the effects can last as long as 14 days, but that's for discontinuation of an MAOI, personally I'd be cautious:\

How would one approach alpha-methyltryptamine cautiously? I'd quite like to do some at BLOC.

I started taking fluoxetine 20mg/day 14 weeks ago. I stopped taking them on Monday 24th June.

I haven't discussed it with my GP, I just stopped, because I am a risk-taker. I feel fine so far. Should I be scared?

Presuming I still feel fine on Friday 6th July (my Birthday), will I be OK taking serotonergic drugs?

If you feel fine, then that is all that matters. No reason to be scared. You can find half life or time to eliminate information of antidepressants online. I researched this subject extensively as I was considering taking tramadol whilst on an SSRI and needed to calculate the risks. I would imagine that after 2 weeks 100 % of most antidepressants will be totally eliminated from your brain and nervous system. However the half life of antidepressants varies significantly, and I think Fluoxetine has the longest halflife of them all.

Pretty complicated information on wikipedia:

The extremely slow elimination of fluoxetine and its active metabolite norfluoxetine from the body distinguishes it from other antidepressants. With time, fluoxetine and norfluoxetine inhibit their own metabolism, so fluoxetine elimination half-life changes from 1 to 3 days, after a single dose, to 4 to 6 days, after long-term use. Similarly, the half-life of norfluoxetine is longer (16 days) after long-term use.[2][47][48] Therefore, the concentration of the drug and its active metabolite in the blood continues to grow through the first few weeks of treatment, and their steady concentration in the blood is achieved only after four weeks.[49][50] Moreover, the brain concentration of fluoxetine and its metabolites keeps increasing through at least the first five weeks of treatment.[51] That means that the full benefits of the current dose a patient receives are not realized for at least a month since its initiation. For example, in one 6-week study, the median time to achieving consistent response was 29 days.[49] Likewise, complete excretion of the drug may take several weeks. During the first week after the treatment discontinuation, the brain concentration of fluoxetine decreases only by 50%,[51] The blood level of norfluoxetine 4 weeks after the treatment discontinuation is about 80% of the level registered by the end of the first treatment week, and 7 weeks after the discontinuation norfluoxetine is still detectable in the blood.[47]

CBA wading through that, but i would imagine there would be very minimal chances of dangerous interactions 2 weeks after stopping. I have taken MDMA,Methylone and MDAI after 24 hrs without Sertraline, and tramadol 48 hrs after, with no adverse effects. This is not to be recommended but I didnt have any bad reactions, although there was still enough of the SSRI in my system to block the serotonin receptors and prevent MDMA and Methylone working very well. I should point out that Sertraline has a far shorter half life than Fluoxetine. From memory, Sertraline is about 75% eliminated after 48 hrs.

I suppose I'm asking for it, I'll have to watch my words;)

I'd approach it kinda sideways, it hasn't got great periphery vision..:sus:

I researched AMT a bit before I tried it Knock.. There tends to be a consensus that its a decent trip but a heavy body load.

For me it was a colourful swirly trip for a couple of hours, bit euphoric.. nothing spectacular .. followed by pains in my kidneys and a hellish brain ache.

Get an E or some acid mate.

Edit.. I had about 30 mg.

Really i am fucking myself over with stop/start sertraline,an antidepressant that i actually get on with, then going on weekend binges. I found that there is no negative interaction with kratom, although i was advised against it,just stick with the sertraline. I take kratom on week nights/days.

Some on here say weed isn't a drug,i say the same about kratom. I am well aware of peeps addicted to kratom.

I found sertraline had an almost instant effect. Had i stuck to just sertraline, who knows what wonderful oppertunities would arise..............................................................

Thanks Yella <3 but I've used AMT several times before and I love it.

My specific concern is possible interaction with SSRIs - fluoxetine (prozac) whcih I've been on for three months.

I haven't taken any fluoxetine since last Sunday. I would like to take AMT on Friday. I'd just like to be fairly sure that there won't be any dangerous interaction - 12 days after cessation of a 90 day 20mg/day course.

(EDIT but yeah, if some acid appeared in my pocket that's what I'd take!)

Effie knows her chemicals Knock.. see what she has to say. Off the top of my head I think it takes a couple of weeks for an ssri to leave your system and AMT reacts to MAOs.

Why are you coming off the prozac?

Why are you coming off the prozac?

1. Because I would love to resume my occasional use of psychedelics and empathogens. I would love to resume it on my birthday ;)
2. Because I believe my mood is significantly better than it was when I started the prozac, because of effective talking therapy and better relationships with family and friends. I am fairly certain the prozac did help, but I think the social stuff has helped a lot more.
3. Because I want to come off it ;) I want my moods back. My good moods were very good! My really bad moods were a recent addition which caught me by surprise; I believe I am able to deal with them now, thanks to my work with my therapist.

Oh yeah good relationships are crucial for good mental health as is a clear conscience.

I'm going bare brained for a while having quit both pregablin and Tramadol.. I had a couple of relapses but hey..

The withdrawals were hellish for a while but I've lost a shit load of weight ( probably literally as the old bowels have livened right up :D).

I'm feeling rather serene presently.. inspite of facing some pretty stormy waters IRL. Long may it last.

Is the tramadol "recreational" for you or do you use it for "medicinal" effects?

I have to confess Knock that I blagged both of them. I get a bit of neuralgia in my leg occasionally due to an operation I had on my ankle about 20 years ago. I'd tried a couple of a relatives Trams and got a buzz from them so played up the gammy leg to the doc.

Same kind of scenario for the pregabalin but I was aiming for diazepam.

I regret both the deceit and the damage Ive done to my body using them over the last year or so Knock tbh. I really dont have an off button when it comes to drugs. There were days that i was taking 2000 mg of Pregabalin ( cba to get right spelling for that) which is close to an overdose. I got some nice trips from it to begin with but abusing them made me fat, stoopid. and a bit twitchy.

Oh and I can thank Tramadol for my first and hopefully last ever siezure.

:|

Actually if anyone can recommend some vitamins that might support my GABA brain stuff in its healing I would really appreciate it.<3

I've only taken tramadol once and it didn't seem to do anything. My friend was on it for his bad back and he gave me one. He is off it now but he says the withdrawals were horrible! And so does everyone else, eh? I used o-desmethyltramadol for about nine months and loved it, and here I am now loving all kinds of opiates and opioids!

Hope you manage to stay off it. There are alternatives which don't fuck you up quite the same! Like the poppy pods I've been eating ;)

Would love to give them a go Knock but cant find any.

They're really not hard to find with your friendly Google. It's usually just a matter of getting the right search terms. They have legitimate uses in floral arrangement. An online supplier of poppy pods might also sell things like pine cones, lotus seed pods and that sort of thing for ornamental display purposes. Perseverance usually provides rewards!

How did you get into drugs?

My brothers and sister, who are at least 12 years older than me, left cultural artefacts from the 60s and 70s in the house - books and music. So I read Carlos Castaneda and I listened to Pink Floyd. I became a bit obsessed with both of these things, really. I was fascinated by Syd Barrett's music and it didn't take long to find out he was a massive acid head. So from the age of 13 I was on the hunt for LSD! The Castaneda books, while being in some ways quite damaging, taught me that many drugs come from plants. They also gave me an interest in shamanism. I spent a lot of time in the library as a teenager reading about "poisonous" plants and mushrooms, and browsing through Culpeper's Herbal. As I was interested in science and philosophy too, it was a perfect union. I didn't have many friends at school, I'm sure there were drugs doing the rounds but I wasn't in that scene. But my best friend left school a year before me, went to college and reported back that he'd got hold of cannabis. So we got stoned and I loved it.

Then of course electronic dance music happened; I left home at 17 in 1990 and went to live in the nearest city, Edinburgh, and I got into the club scene there - Pure at the Venue and whatever went on at the Calton Studios were my weekend haunts. (Pure was the classy, trendy place with Detroit techno. Calton Studios was rough and ready trance music that wasn't to my taste musically, but it was easy to score drugs there.) I was thrilled to discover someone selling LSD! I didn't get into Ecstasy until later, LSD was my drug of choice. LSD and electronic dance music were, for me, a match made in heaven...

How about you?

My mum was a hippy kind of 70s chick also into Carlos Casteneda, Pink Floyd and Culpepers funny enough :D so I was probably influenced by the same kind of stuff as you Knock.
Both my parents used drugs. My dad used to roll his first spliff when he woke up in the morning. I think it was in with good intentions that he gave me a joint to cheer me up when I broke up with a boyfriend at 15. I got into LSD, Ecstasy and speed shortly after when the Acid house scene erupted. Mostly just weekend trips for a dance and a giggle no real soul searching stuff.
In my early 20s I went travelling off and on for a few years. I really went over the top with acid in India and nearly got an opium addiction.
Fortunately, I got pregnant I came off everything even dope up until about 3 years ago. I was bored my daughter was away so I took some DXM. It was the first disassociative I had ever tried, I had a vision of God that reduced me to tears it was so breathtakingly beautiful.. I saw God as a man and a woman, king and queen....

to be continued I'm knackered lol

I think Piracetam combined with Choline has potential as an anti-oxidant in the brain, also helps rebuild neural networks, helps people with Altzimers etc, considered as a nootropic or 'smart drug' . (You have to take the P + the Ch as it wont work otherwise) Ive taken these on 3 seperate days now and it does give a mental boost, which is meant to be cumulatively increase over time. You may find this worth looking into and trying a small batch of each, to see if they help you.

I posted about my first experience on them on the top of this page
