So, of course there is danger/risk in mixing any two GABAergic sedatives, but which combinations are of the most danger? Exactly what kind of synergism takes place, I mean the mechanism by which one GABAergic effects another, and how that augments the effects of each drug.

I rarely indulge in alcohol compared to most, it is toxic and my body doesn't particularly like it all the time, but tonight I plan to indulge myself with a bottle of wine, 750 ml with 12.5 % alcohol.

I take Xanax daily, 2 - 4 mg throughout the day. I also have Fiorinal (aspirin/butalbital/caffeine) which I use occassionally, and enjoy quite a bit in combination with my Xanax. Definitely makes me much more relaxed, and even a little euphoria. I only take one, or more rarely two.

So, I know combining benzos and barbiturates is like a super NO-NO, but I enjoy a low dose of butalbital (50 mg - 100 mg) with my Xanax that I take on a daily basis.

My question is would a combination of butalbital, alcohol, and alprazolam be like a death wish combo, or could it be done safely in the right doses? Would the butalbital be completely overpowered by the alcohol, or add to its effect? I really want to be downed out tonight, and am wondering if this would be a possible combination? I intend on finishing the bottle of wine, so take that into consideration. I have Xanax, and Fiorinal at my disposal, too.

I know I am writing and asking a lot, but I want to know exactly how benzos and barbiturates synergize, and how alcohol would play into the mix.

Yes even at low doses you should avoid this. Barbiturates are dangerous with benzodiazapines and alcohol and even considering the dose of barbs is low you are asking for trouble. Could you get away with it? Probably but there is significant risk. Benzos and alcohol in low doses are one thing but playing with barbs is very dangerous.

If I was you i'd avoid it even at the low dose, the low dose of barbs probably won't add much enjoyment and isn't worth the risk.

Maybe just 1 mg of alprazolam, and the bottle of wine then? I've taken 3 mg already today, 2 mg in the morning at 7 AM, and 1 mg at 5 PM, I am planning on taking the Xanax maybe around 11 PM and then begin drinking. I really want a nice heavy sedation with complete anxiolysis, and euphoria. I have almost no alcohol tolerance, but I do have a bit of a tolerance to benzodiazepines, not huge, but definite.

thats dumb city pt 4.... im a huge fan of choosing one drug...whatever it may be .... and doing alot of it...not mixing a little here and a little there.....

i would say roll face....who needs downers...you can still get shitfaced and have the time of your fucking life

Combining alcohol and benzos is beyond stupid. If you misjudge it (and now you've had that bottle of wine, 1 little pill won't hurt, now you've had that pill, another bottle of wine won't hurt)... keep playing that game too long (or even once if you get it wrong, and it's very easy to get wrong) and you will find yourself waking up in one of three places:

Hospital (with no memory of why)
Jail (with no memory of why)
Not at all

And the amount people can tolerate of these in combination varies WILDLY from person to person. One persons "just a nice minor buzz with no amnesia" is another's "in hospital on a life support machine".

Yeah it might feel good but not everything that feels good is worth the consequences of it's actions...

Seriously advise against this. It has caused many people I know very serious health and law enforcement problems.

If you JUST HAVE TO because you will be smarter than them (just like those dead, imprisoned or hospitalised people thought) be VERY careful to start low with both and have a VERY TRUSTWORTY friend with you, preferably one who is also physically capable of controlling you. Especially watch the alcohol consumption. Even a little bit of benzos can make you do wildly stupid things when drunk.

It's a pleasant buzz but there are many other pleasant buzzes without such major risks.

ALL "downer" or CNS depressant combos (opioids, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, ethanol, muscle relaxants, carbamates, antipsychotics, etc) are all dangerous in combination and cause death. So there is no "but which combinations are of the most danger?" They are all equally dangerous in amounts that people are not tolerant to.

No HR value here. Just speculation, can even be dangerous speculation so therefore I am closing this thread.
