Hey everyone, here is the all new TDS social gathering place. If you are feeling social, stop in! Soup's on in the kitchen, there 's tea and flowers on the table and there is sunlight pouring through the skylight. All that is needed is some friendly conversation.:)

edit: remember that the guidelines here in the Recovery forum state that there be no drug talk in the social threads. The purpose of this is to have places for people to go where they will not encounter triggering content so please do respect that guideline.<3

Hello everyone! How's your Thursday goin so far? I just finished eating my dinner after my intense spin class. Rest tomorrow and then planning to go on a challenge hike on Saturday to beat my record. What's everyone's plans for the weekend?

Work work and more work ffs >:(

Still, I'm pretty chipper! Organising some shows to go and see at the fringe festival in a couple of weeks with my girl so happy happy.

I'm still on vacation at my sister's house on a very peaceful river. My sister doesn't play cards but my mom, brother-in-law and I are all card playing addicts. We play a progressive rummy game that an aunt from Germany taught us years ago called Liverpool Rummy--anybody know it? When I go home after vacations here I actually go through card playing WD's. 8)

@CAT--so happy that things are still going good with you and your girl.<3

Yeah things are still going pretty good, we don't get to see each other too much so it's kind of easy for things to be fresh and not get tired.

Here is us on the top of arthurs seat in edinburgh the other day:)

^love the picture, CAT, my friend! I am on vacation in Columbus, Ohio, visiting my son and his wife of almost one year. So lovely... no drama, just fun and good food.
I am watching some reality TV while they engage in their Friday evening video gaming adventures via their computers.

Buenos días a todos!:) Any Spanish speakers here? I'm on a lifelong mission to learn it but seem to stay stuck at the same level. People compliment me on my accent but then I get about four sentences in to whatever I am trying to say and sound like someone that suffered a head injury.=D

Does it count as a double post when it's a bump?=D

Hey, Darksiders (I always feel like a gang member when I say that....too many years living around Sureños and Norteños and Eastsiders and Westsiders and Midtowns I guess). Hope everyone is enjoying the week. I've had a busy one!

its kind of funny but i think it was willow who posted something about how he used to be on vacation all the time, and it being awful, i posit he means not working or studying or having any sense of structure, but now that he works he really looks forward to holidays. i have been on a permanent vacation for a long time, and i'm sick to death of it, so i'm going to start applying for jobs and volunteer work (green corps maybe?), i think something i would like to do in the future is mental health peer work. somewhere i can be present and open and create some space in an intense environment where there is so much reactivity and judgement. theres a cert IV for it which costs $3k so it will have to be on the backburner for now.

darksiders does sound pretty badass now you mention it, the only spanish i know is "donde e sta el bagno?" :D

Speaking about work yep Maya had 19 hours overtime for the month end paycheque and very excited to see the $$ lol. I have 9 hours so far for next month 15th payday and more to come!! I just cant seem to accomplish anything that requires meticulous observation on regular hours where people bug you all the time every minute of everyday but hey not complaining about the extra moolah $$$

Hi all! Still out on sick leave, I think my job has let me go, they won't respond to emails, calls etc...ah well, it's a beautiful day here, greetings from Ireland everyone!

@Mysterie--that sounds like a very good plan. Have you looked into any peer counseling/mentoring programs? You'd be good at that. What kind of things does the Green Corps do--mostly environmental? One thing I would do if I had time was walk dogs outside of the shelter. It would be heartbreaking on the way back but they need to get out and have someone with time walk them instead of just the workers that are in a hurry. Come to think of it, that would be a good freelance job--just walk dogs for people that are too busy at work to do it properly.

@Rachella--is it getting autumnal over there yet? Leaves turning? It's hotter than ever here in California.

@herbita

yea it is quite expensive to do the course, i think it may be mostly online, but i think my counselor is in the know so i'll ask him more about it. i think there is going to be more opportunities for that kind of work in the near future in australia.

green corps do environmental things like planting etc i think, but now i think about it i really think taking dogs for walks at shelters could be a wonderful thing. i had my first dog i named 'misty' after the pokemon trainer put down at a shelter 3 days after she ran away, it was devastating, i am still at a loss as to how people or organisations can operate in a paradigm where animals are disposable.

Me gusta el nombre Herbita! :)

Shelters for the most part have gotten a lot better here. There are certain ones that are "no kill" and they take as many as they can from those that still do kill. I'm so sorry to hear about Misty. I can imagine that in some ways you will never completely get over such a preventable death. 3Days??!

isnt that illegal if you are legitimately sick and they let you go? How long have you been out of work?
