The Dark side of MDMA?

Okay that's all good :) sorry man I must be on a comedown :) been snappy all day. Words without tone or body language is hard to convey correctly :)

I do share your frustration, my mum was telling me today that apparently somebody had died taking MDMA crystals recently in the UK. So I asked her 'yeah were they drinking?' 'are you sure it was MD' and when she answered no I told her not to believe anything your hear on the news about drugs it's all just bullshit to make it look bad, but she never listens :) and neither will the rest of this mind washed by the media world :)

There was one type of piperazine I really did enjoy :) not sure what type it was but it was very very nice. the others have just left me cold, the visuals weren't too bad. I have only had two bad times on MDMA and it was all because there was someone there that I didn't like :) I haven't had a bad time since.

i think its BZP the most like as far as pipes go.....and thats alot of smiley's:)

For which one the bad or the good?If you mean the good then yes it was very very smiley :) me and a friend had quite a bit of it :)

Sometimes I feel like MD effects are watered down too. I think that happens because I want too much from it now OR its just not as good quality

@thizzle idk bro I don't have the answer. At least u get eye wiggles I've only really had em once. Which defs did u drop the ones w the break lines or dance on the back? The ones w dance on the back are significantly weaker than the break line ones. Idk maybe u really do need that break you've been talking bout.

MDMA is a very powerful drug, so it should be of little surprise that it can turn on someone...

Serotonin directly inhibit dopamine transmission throughout the brain, including in the cortex.
Suppression of dopamine in the higher brain is a key element of psychosis, so in a way MDMA is inducing a short-term psychosis in its users.
Anxiety and discomfort are common during the comeup - as is a VERY strong cortisol response.

What happens when this 'normal' experience doesn't go well?

Cortisol is the brain's defense against toxic levels of serotonin - it directly lowers synaptic serotonin by increasing its metabolism.
What if you have been rolling regularly enough that you have caused real down-regulation of cortical serotonin receptors?

Then the remaining serotonin network must handle a relatively greater amount of transmission, right?
Like plugging the holes in a sprinkler system, the pressure will be increased upon the remaining points of exit.
A crude analogy for a very complex neurochemical machine, but you get the point.

So now you have a VERY strong level of dopamine suppression in the higher brain.
Cortisol is OFF the chart in a vain attempt to contain the runaway train that is altered serotonin transmission.
The brain and body have no choice but to WAIT until enough MDMA has been metabolized for the nightmare to end.

And a nightmare it is, if you ask enough people.
No - really bad psychotic trips are not that common.
But they DO happen.

One of my friends that used to LOVE rolling 'back when pills were pure in the 90s' recalls the last night he rolled...
"It just felt like I really wanted to stop rolling, but I couldn't. It just kept going and going..."

Moderately bad trips are actually common, and plenty of BL members will agree that after enough rolls, the anxiety and post-roll depression get worse and the magic gets less.

There is definitely a trend here, if you care to see it.
Unfortunately many people claim to be 'experts' on MDMA simply because they have rolled a hundred times, or know those who have, with relative few complaints...

Just understand that even with pure, tested MDMA, BAD TRIPS HAPPEN.
And the higher the dose and repeated dosing in a session makes this more and more likely to happen.
Make sure you space your rolls according to the wisdom of experience around here - 30 days minimum, with 90 days being recommended.

Break the basic rules, and having pure MDMA won't save you in the long run.
By the way, yes Pipes can induce a pleasant experience for some.
They do not have to be a blanket horrible experience for all, especially considering they impact the serotonin and dopamine networks as well.

In general, serotonin agonists are less risky than serotonin releasing agents.
Learn the difference and the similarities - lots of pipes are potent releasing agents!
MDMA is among the strongest of SRAs - but its action has been studied endlessly by researchers and a LOT of data exists on its effects.
Other strong SRAs are simply far too risky to consider, and many have been burned by one bad experience.
Especially when mixing MDMA and pipes!

So testing your gear is critical, no matter what other rules you chose to break/follow.
But try to keep your common sense - MDMA is a 'potent neurotoxin'.
That makes dosage and spacing critically important.

Good luck.

I have had tested clean MDMA that made me see horrible things....Sometimes I think the brain just flips.....

Thank you!!!!!! This was the answer I was looking for, I would have quoted the whole thing but it would have taken up too much space :)

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! And thanks again to the rest of you. I could do with friends like these :)
