    Welcome Guest!

The Cuddle Puddle v. Can we listen to at least one Non-Electronic Song?

You realize that's making fun of a French and Swedish DJ, right?

Realise* :D

Yeah I do realise his ethnicity, but no other countrys masses lap up the "EDM" culture like the USA does, don not worry they are everywhere. Its only a joke, unfortunately effecting more than most within the USA.

^ I ain't no limey! Guess that makes me a Yankee.. (even though they're thousands of miles away LOL)

Honestly though, the culture might have become big in the US but it's spread everywhere else. Those kind of "DJs" only play at the MAJOR events, in fact they literally are not even allowed to call them raves anymore in most cities. The only thing they share with a "real rave" is electronic music... but even then, it's usually opposite sides of the spectrum. If you go to a $2000 dollar (pound?) concert/festival in the UK, you'd probably see the same shit. The best events will probably cost you nothing and be lined up with all Local DJs, it's the same here as it is across the pond

Honestly I thought it was hilarious lol, just get a bit tired of people saying that's "how America is" when they only see Ultra music festivals and the other commercialized shit. Trust me when I say the only raves I hear about in the UK/Europe are pretty much the same exact environment. The underground scene is always going to be exploited, but it's still thriving here nonetheless :)

Actually Folley the most popular stuff here is techno techno techno.

Seth Troxler +1. Was at a BBQ here at club Trouw last sunday, seems like a cool guy and his sets are almost always nice. Some fair points in the article although I'd say there's a few decent festivals around too that capture the things he values. Still not the same as clubbing though :)

I would certainly agree. Clubs are a completely different atmosphere from festivals.. I wouldn't say one is better than the other though. There are commercial clubs and underground festivals.. you can't exactly compare Defqon to EDC or Coachella.

You sure about that? Because there's a 15 stage Hardstyle festival that is world renowned playing in the NL soon.. it even has 200+mg MDMA pills named after it lmao

I could say the same about Seattle but with Hard Dance, it wouldn't be true either though. These are just the events WE go to the most, they're the events we see promoted often. You probably aren't getting invites to all the Hardstyle/Gabber raves, and I hardly ever see Tech events around here that bring in more than 100 people. Music is everywhere, and it's always going to be as diverse as the people listening to it

Tbh there are a few hardstyle events here and there but no where near the ammount of techno. Hardstyle has a solid fanbase aye but outside of that it's dying a little imho

I'd say the same exact thing about techno, though... and honestly Hardstyle has gotten a lot more popular the last year, at least in the states. Maybe not as much in Europe as it was fucking HUGE before, but a lot of the old Hardcore/Hard Trance lovers are switching over to HS.

I love it all, though. Tech is a bit too mild for my tastes but there's a time and a place for everything. When I'm peaking on some quality MDxx though, I want a hard bass and an intensely beautiful melody to really take me out of myself. Different strokes for different folks, of course. Techno and Hardstyle might as well be complete polar opposites so both of our opinions are probably extremely biased lol.

Haha yeah and the genre's are way too broad IMO :D I mean techno and hardstyle cover ALOT of different styles actually

Dontcha just hate it when a little snow wrecks a trip? I was supposed to be near Gold Bridge, BC right now but 30km into the 4x4 trail to get there I found a foot of snow covering the whole trail making it un-passable in my vehicle. :(

Oh well I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer before trying this trip again.

I must say I rather enjoy those days when a few cm/inch of snow messes everything up here in Amsterdam. Nice little reminder that we still have nothing on nature.
Also, it makes riding your bike feel like off-road mountainbiking :)

Amsterdam is always messed up. It's way too chaotic for me to enjoy it really

^ I missed you too fool! Thought you were dead for a while lmao :sus: (not quite, but close damn it!)

Depends. Sure, the center is all tourists looking to get high and stag do's shouting about, but most areas outside the center are quite nice, if you know where to go
