The Fallen Messiah
Bluelighter
As I wandered the plains back West to my home on this arid day, I caught the glimpse of an angel flying out towards the setting sun, a look of grief burdening his eyes. I leaned on my cane and looked on in awe and then I saw another angel come out of nowhere, following the first. I stood still in my awe and looked on. Then I saw the eyes. 'Twas those same red eyes that looked upon me long ago, and it became clear what I was witnessing The Dark Angel is hunting.
He flew swiftly, his ebon wings flapping powerfully as they took him to his prey. The grieving angel was unaware of his pursuer until it was too late. In the sky, wings, both black and white began flapping, as the dark one overpowered the younger one and they fell to the ground. The young angel was pinned down by his befallen captor. He did not even attempt to struggle.
I watched in horror as the dark angel took hold of the grieving angel's wings and, slowly and methodically, he be gan to tear them from his back. The younger angel screamed in unparalleled agony as his captor rent his wings from his back like a wolf tearing flesh from a lamb's ribs. The young angel fell to the ground, unconscious from the pain as his wings were removed from his body. The dark angel licked his fingers of the young one's blood and he took a nail from his finger and lowered it to the young one's back. Slowly, he carved an ornate brand into the flesh on the young unsconscious angel's back. When he was completed, the dark one took a knee, grabbed the young one's head by the hair and looked into his slumbering face.
"Welcome to the human world," he intoned grimly. "You are now marked for life for your sins. Never will you forget them."
The dark one laughed and spat upon the sleeping visage of the young unconscious angel and, as quickly as he came, he darted off into the ever-spreading night sky. This was a sad day in mine eyes. An angel became human, and now forever bears a brand of guilt upon his back as he spends the rest of his days in mortality.

"I have no name. If you must call me something, call me 'No Name.'"
