No, but young brains (pre 25 years) have differences to mature brains (post 25 years), and there are changes in brain function in later years as well, so maybe. I don't know.

goood point, it surely has the same effects in the big lines i.e hallucinations etc, but more precisely i wouldnt know.

I've dosed on LSD a few times, and various other psychedelic drugs and I am of VERY young age. I'd assume psychedelics effect everyone along the same lines but still vary from person to person in ANY case.

Age doesn't matter, it's subjective.

But it's still a good idea to wait till your 20's before dwelling into psychedelics.

It seems the world is naturally more new when you're younger, a psychedelic can wait for the fragile mind.

Resreaching them is typically done by older people, so younger people take them not expecting they might be really profound and not a toy to play with.

While this is entirely true, I would still say there are a few exceptions for the younger crowd, yet very few.

Nueroplasticity (the degree to which experiences alter brain structure) declines with age. In fact, I believe that for at least some brain areas/functions, there has been shown to be a critical period after which little or no change can take place. So it seems logical to assume that psychedelics would have a more profound effect on younger people, particular in regard to long term effects (whether such effects are deemed positive or negative).

I dropped acid for the first time at the age of 16....

Looking back on it, it will soon be 2 years since the first time i dropped. The experience was profound, overwhelming, insanity, beautiful, and the most meaningful experience of my life. I do not regret it, if i could go back i would do it again in a heart beat....

Fragile is not necessarily a bad thing, i was shaken to the core after that trip... i hardly spoke for days, there were things that needed to be sorted out but after it was all said and done i was a happier person. Before that trip, and to go back farther smoking weed i was pretty depressed, there was no real reason. I lived in a decent house, decent family, i had friends, and school was going decently well, but for some reason i hated my life. It was the same shit, different day. No light at the end of the tunnel, no end to the monotony.... Smoking weed filled the hole in my life to an extent, enough for me to eventually consider myself to be in a decent enough mindset to try acid. After that first trip i was happy to simply be alive, i saw the light. I saw that there was so much to be happy for, i started to appreciate friends, family, and life more....

I did research it before trying it, i read practically everything i could and i thought i knew what to expect, but i was completly wrong... Words just don't do the experience justice....

Im 15 right now and have read pretty much everything.
I try to stay away from reading about bad trips because I dont want to have those thoughts in my mind when I do do it.

But, I am going to wait till' my cousin (18) gets back. And by the time I actually get a hold of some LSD, I'll be 16.
You see, he leaves this Friday. Comes back January 18. We will probably do it at his place so my parents dont bug us. And I turn 16 in February.

my happiest memory ever in my entire life was lying in the sun and in the long grass with my fiance tripping balls, and i was 17, i had bad trips in my 20s, not back then lol.

Thanks for all the input! I remember tripping 20 years ago, and my knees were shaking when I took a piss, and my jaw was clenched, and it was very intense. It felt like there was a python in my stomach.

More recently there's been much less body load. Looking back on it, I always smoked pot at the same time. I didn't realize how that could turn the mind-fuck knob up to eleven. Also, I enjoyed chain-smoking Dunhill reds, and I am not a cigarette smoker. If I smoked a pack of cigarettes in 8 hours while sober, I'd be a mess! So, I think I was doing it wrong back then.

I think that a lot of my peers sort of scared themselves by treating acid as a party drug when we were 18-25 y.o., and they won't touch it now. I think that's a shame. I think once you're older, there's a lot more to get out of LSD.

im currently 18 and have used LSD on about 15-20 different occasions in the past year.
most of my trips have been really good, but lately i have been thinking a bit too hard about how fucked i am going to be in the long run - and the last few doses those thoughts have been flooding my brain at some stage throughout the journey.

is there any older users who can first handedly confirm what damages i am to expect in 10 - 20 - 30 years time??

Generally from what I've witnessed & personally experienced I'd suggest that the liklihood of the onset of HPPD type symptoms is higher in younger people.

Yes there are a couple at least (older people) - don't expect any damage as such (unless you're predisposed to mental illlness) just a rather wider ranging outlook than the average non psychedelic user - tho this isn't guaranteed either, there are closed minded bigots everywhere.

Unless there is a history of mental illness in your family your probably fine...

Expect a different outlook on life, more open minded....

flashbacks are a possibility but they aren't as bad as the propaganda says... HPPD is another thing, but i believe you have to do acid a bit more than once every couple weeks... Ive known of people who dosed hundreds of tabs over the course of a few months, there were some emotional effects for a while but they faded in time....

sweet.. How (sort of) relieving.
I just wasn't too sure if I could end up completely retarded or not. I'm sure it's a possibility but I have a pretty strong headspace and I won't let myself consume enough acid to do such a thing.

Don't worry about it. LSD is not going to fuck you up. If you want to do the future you a favor - don't smoke cigarettes!

I had the same fears about acid when I was younger. I remember wondering if I would ever come down, etc. I feel like I could enjoy it so much more now knowing that it's not going to screw me up.

After 20 years I have a wife, job, and 2 kids. It's all good. I think that's why I'm interested in it again - I've realized that you can do acid without screwing yourself.

PHPD? I'd say my night vision may have been hurt by acid, but I noticed it after my first time, which was kind of a whoops situation involving a lot of acid. So, if you haven't screwed up your vision yet, you probably won't.

Moderation in all things...

Alcohol will fuck up your life way worse than LSD.

I first tried it when I was 16 but nothing too crazy happened, I just chilled in my room with a friend talking about life for the majority of the time. Didn't get to try it again for several years after, and have enjoyed it quite a few times in the last few years - no noticeable increase or decrease in effects really, and I don't think it has messed me up with regards to life and not being able to do things. I do have visual disturbances but they aren't particularly distressing - makes life a little more interesting!

This is from the biography of Timothy leary about age and LSD:

"We had administered psychedelic drugs to three middle aged intellectuals and one young black woman. The three men fought to control their experience, clung to control their realities and emerged (in our observation) relatively unchanged. Why did some people turn away from the experience when others immediately understood its purpose? Youth was becoming a constant indication in our research. The older the person… the more fear of a visionary experience."

I first tried LSD when i was 15 years old . They where spiderman tabs that were very potent . I took two of them and my best friend took one and we had an amazing experience . One I will remember for the rest of my life . It definitely had an effect on my personality , I become much more out going and met hundred's of amazing people through out the drug using community. Its been 8 years since that day and I wouldnt trade these past years in for anything in the world . Ive had a beautiful life and some of the greatest moments in it where spent under the influence of LSD. I don't believe there should be an age restriction on LSD but i do believe its not for everyone. If you have the responsibility of giving LSD to people make sure there ready for it . Only good hearted loving People deserve LSD . Like everybody in the PD Social =D

I've always felt a particular strangeness about giving people LSD. Its like too much responsibility for me, man. :D

Me too but when the time is right and I give someone a little piece of paper and it changes their whole being. Now that is amazing . Some of the best friends i have ever met in my life , I have met through tripping. I can usually tell if someone is ready for the experience very well . If I'm weary about anything at all , or if the set and setting isn't right , i'll back out and set up better plans with the him / her for our adventure at another time :)
