My only son was inexplicably unresponsive
I knew he had been drinking; his friends told me they also bought some cocaine
My only son Allen, not breathing, his friends urgent at your bedroom door
Quick, slap, yell, call 911. Grey, then blue, or blue, then grey lips as
his body remains unresponsive on the floor as your baby's fetid breath blows, nay deflates, like some holey raft, morphing into some holy craft.
while we have 911 on the line waiting for the paramedics.
Apparantly it takes 12 mgs to revive a fent OD; I only had 8mg. He woke up when paramedics gave him 4 more.

I wonder, when I either don't share this at all, or when I do share this, where I am celebrated as the hero.
I mean, I acted instantly with 1)narcan 2)911 3)CPR.
I don't feel like a hero; more like a zero
I made Allen
I made Allen a user in my exes eyes. although I don't drink or do cocaine, the fact I had narcan and CPR saved his life.
His light went back on; still my fault
I continue to enable him
to use
air
as it ever was I

This is really powerful. ❤️ I can't imagine. It would have to be one of the hardest things ever to see and revive your child in such a condition. My heart goes out to you.

Im so sorry man...so fentanyl laced in cocaine? What the hell! why gangs are doing so stupid things???!!!fucking bitches!!!
Very good that you had narcan man. For me youre a Hero

A British guy had a theory. That drug dealers are sometimes too lazy to wipe their scale clean and after they are done weighing the fent, that they used the same scale afterwards to weigh the coke. Only a few grains of salt in size; of pure fent can kill; especially if he, like this gentlmen's his son, is not use to opiods.
Luckily this guy knew what to do and had enough Narcan, till the paramedics showed up and gave him another hit. They really should put 3 in a box.
I agree with Kongoman, you are a hero. I am not a young kid but, I once was, and I know that young guys are going to do what they want. He got lucky, he has a father who did exactly what was needed to save his life.

Thanks man. As a relatively light(15mg/day) and very stable methadone patient I was hesitant to take the narcan. Id been much higher before such things were offered to me, more like 60mgs. Glad I did! I was very fortunate; my son has been fent aware for the last 5 years as he lost a close personal friend to OD, so he was very aware the dangers of those blue pills.
Anecdotally the emts indeed told me 12 mgs was necessary these days; I had narcan in stock for my own methadone prescription; 8mgs worked in the past on heroin, oxycodone and methadone. Apparently having 3 x 4mgs would have saved us some grief; as he woke up like from a nap when the paramedics gave him only 4mgs. when 8 seemed to do nothing.

I wonder if its fine and dandy for an opioid user, a total layman, to administer rx'ed narcan, on a family member or random stranger.
Obviously an academic question but some people may hesitate before acting especially if breaking a law.
I do know that Oregon has good samaritan laws on the books that allow OD victims and their drug using companions immunity from prosecution and that is pretty widely known in our state.

I looked at an article and at other sources. It seems that most states(well over half have a good Samaritan law. Also the majority make Narcan available to average people.
Hopefully someday soon all the states will have laws protecting people who overdosed and their friends( or whoever helped them) Also Narcan should be available and can be legally owned and used by people in a majority of states.
Common sense laws will hopefully be adopted by all the states. Also Narcan should come 3 or 4 packs, be legalized and given away in all states.
Although most states have adopted laws to protect od victims and those that are around them. There still are states that need to adopt similar laws. Teenagers and even older people panic and lives are lost. The fear of legal repercussions should not be a factor when dealing with someone who has od'd or drank to the point of alcohol poisoning.
The idea of punishing people for od'd or others who helped out, even if they are carrying or high or underage and drunk; kills people. Hopefully the state governments will pass common since laws to save lives.
Also the police should carry a lot of bottles of Narcan. You wait for the ambulance, when you know the person overdosed? The cops could probably save lives. Sometimes they get to a scene first and every minute counts.

Horrible story. Last night I did 4 lines of coke with my husband as a treat. I felt very strange, not high, very listless, I kept needing to remind myself to breathe. I washed my face with cold water and waited 2 hours before going to bed. This morning I used a test strip to detect fentanyl (I bought them ages ago when I read about fentanyl being used to cut coke). The test was a strong positive and it scared the crap out of me. I’m never touching coke again. I’m 47 kilos and 154cm and I presume I reacted like this because of my size - my husband said he didn’t feel it at all and he finished what was left.
