I find all three very similar in effect, it's just zalepon comes on much quicker and doesn't last as long, zopiclone maybe lasts the longest but has the horrible taste. I only got the 'shadow people' on zalepon though.
The effect is really interesting, it significantly changes my thought patterns, with some confusion. It's quite enjoyable, though I can't imagine really coming up with anything that's legible once it's worn off.
When I take zaleplon I always think - ok, time to sleep, but then - this euphoric wave come over and I start to listen music, and ususally post something, which turns to be funny garabage, also i start to see that my LCD monitor is like made of something that is not flat, very strange feelings.
Once i eat a whole pack of Andante(70 mg), then started to walk around my flat, then BANG i wake up earlyt morning and what I see - another pack of Andante(another 70 mg) is laying on the desk and it seems that I had a trip to pharmacy and ate it ![]()
But it is only OTC sleeping pill that i can buy in Russia and it works.

zolpidem likely affects other neurotransmitter system through some downstream mechanism. Because of the hallucinations and such and euphoria its like anti cholinergic at some point or it effects serotonin 5htp 2a receptors some how.
There is definitely something going on though. No doubt.

Ugh Ambien, as stated above, it's a love/hate thing.
Sometimes i get the bright idea to dose up on a couple Ambiens at night for a fun little high, but only end up just feeling weird, no hallucinations (this only occurred once to me on Ambien and never again), however I do understand that stimulation. I feel like snorting it definitely has some stimulating properties, however swallowing them can be more sedating.
The next morning when I wake up though, I feel like shit, can't remember half the shit I did, if any of it, and end up repeating to myself "Ugh, why do I even bother with that shit." Especially if I snorted it, my nose will be running/clogged like a mother fucker and I'll feel even worse. There's also that feeling in the back of my mind like "Did I seriously snort a bunch of Ambien last night?" Low and behold, though, less than a week later it will sound like a good idea again... =\
At this point, I rarely take it for sleep unless my insomnia gets really bad and/or I'm coming down off a stim. Otherwise I usually just use melatonin, or in some cases diphenhydramine.
Ambien is one weird drug.
