Not new deaths or cases, that’s the deep ruby red Dakotas. I’m trying to figure out what you’re actually looking at. Cumulative deaths?

So you're just not going to tell me when I misquoted you? I genuinely don't know what you're talking about. I had a look back to try and work it out and I still have no idea.

Strangely enough, yes, I'm looking at total deaths. Not sure why new cases or case totals are more relevant than total deaths. The cases and deaths for the first five months were much higher in democratic states. Why is that if Trump was influencing state decisions? Doesn't that imply democratic states were more influenced by him? I'm repeating myself here.

North Dakota has a third of the death rate of NYC and half the death rate of New Jersey state.
South Dakota has a quarter of NYC and less than half of NJ state.

If Trump was so influential why are there so many more deaths in democratic states?

Doesn't make any sense to me but (believe it or not) I'm happy to admit that I'm wrong if you point out what I'm missing.

@birdup.snaildown the worst hit states are Republican

I’m looking at a current snapshot of the epidemic, not cumulative cases or deaths. I don’t want to fight about it, tbh, we’re just looking at it differently.

You're looking in a particular direction because you don't want to see what's behind you which is the big picture. Total deaths is more relevant to the discussion than last weeks figures.

@birdup.snaildown I’m not sure if you’re joking, but I’m this post you quoted mal3volent, but attributed it to me.

Wow. Just wow. Like talking to a brick wall.

The democratic states were hit first because those are the most dense populated urban areas. Red states are more rural and it took a while to spread.

the reason you shouldnt go by deaths is because that statistic is based on a number of factors that has nothing to do with how well or how poorly that state handled the virus. The state could have a higher percentage of at risk individuals. Or it could be a higher populated state where the hospitals resources are spread more thin. Also the Number of dead isn't a good reflection of how things are now since it takes a while for people to actually die. In other words check back in a couple of weeks and it could be different.

I put the wrong name in the quote field. My bad. Wasn't intentional. Wasn't joking. Doesn't make any difference though because you're basically both saying the same thing right?

Not if you’re looking at current hotspots, which is what I follow. It’s relevant, just in a different way.
You are so intent on “winning”, you’re just intentionally ignoring that this is interesting data.
I don’t think you get to determine which statistic is more relevant.

No the people who buried their loved ones get to decide.

Deaths isn't a good indication of how well they handled COVID?

Well, fuck me. I'm going to go have sex and watch television now.
