Election 2020 The 2020 Candidates: Right, Left and Center!

im actually going to predict that Bernie won Iowa by much more than anyone expected. And that these technical difficulties were an attempt to take his momentum away.

This was my first thought as well. DNC can't handle a Bernie landslide, and need to stifle it. BUT, what I'm hearing now is the people running the caucus didn't understand/apply the rules for counting heads at tables properly. That would speak to ineptitude more than dishonesty.

It looks hella dodgy and corrupt, if anything.

The jokes, and campaign ads, are writing themselves at this point for Trump. It's both sad, and laughable, given this ISN'T the first time the Dems have run a caucus. Anyone worth their salt would have had experienced persons doing dry runs to ensure this kinda thing didn't happen. Hell, even if it were dishonesty from within the DNC, they'd be smarter and more practiced at hiding it. This is just absurd.

The absurdity and obviousness of it make me wonder if Russia is hacking/tampering again. All they need to do is continue to undermine confidence in our system. Also Bernie making the Democratic candidacy for president isn't what they want.

I so hope this isn't 2016 all over again... :\

For the record I am totally not putting it past the DNC at all to be the ones at fault here.

So, they've been speculating for a while on the news here that Bernie won Iowa, but that the head honchos in the Democrat party are so utterly opposed to him winning that they're trying to scotch the whole thing. Also something about Pete Buttigieg (sp?) owning the company that counts the votes (how f'ing corrupt is that LOL!), so pretty easy for them to crash the whole thing.

Buttigieg did well and bet the bank (literally) on Iowa. He really needs a top 3, maybe top 4 finish. He’s probably the one most hurt by the data being delayed.
Most results expected today.

I disagree, the delay helped him because he was able to deliver a victory speech he didn't earn.
probably raised a ton of money off his "victory". Probably some in NH will believe he is more viable than they would have otherwise.

I have to go with the @JessFR theory of incompetence on the Iowa caucuses, because Democrats... 😕

I dunno, the amount of shade and smearing the establishment Dems have thrown Bernie already makes me feel like it's entirely within the realm of possibility that they would try to stack the election (again, remember 2016?). I don't know if they are, but I certainly wouldn't discount it.

I suppose it’s possible, but it’s hurting the process overall for all Dems.
Also, heads are going to roll over this, so at least a few people would have to be willing to sacrifice their careers. In politics.

We’ll see how Buttigieg did, but by most accounts he exceeded expectations, which is all he needed to do to stay viable for New Hampshire.

By the way Biden is questioning the integrity of the data, I’m guessing he didn’t do well.

We’ll know soon enough.

Although Pete Buttigieg leads the caucus results, Bernie Sanders is leading the popular vote count, at 28,220 over Buttigieg’s 27,030.
Elizabeth Warren collected 22,254 votes and Joe Biden has 14,176, with 62% of precincts reporting.

In terms of percentages, here’s how the popular vote counts break down:
Sanders: 27%
Buttigieg: 25%
Warren: 21%
Biden: 13%
Klobuchar: 13%

The popular vote represents the raw data not converted into state delegate equivalents.

So US primaries are also an electoral college?

So US primaries are also an electoral college?
Sorta.
See bolded below:
Both major political parties of the U.S.—the Democratic Party and the Republican Party—officially nominate their candidate for president at their respective national conventions. Each of these conventions is attended by a number of delegates selected in accordance with the given party's bylaws. The results of the presidential primaries and caucuses bind many of these delegates, known as pledged delegates, to vote for a particular candidate.

Both parties also have a group of unpledged delegates.
Republicans have three At-Largedelegates selected at the state convention from all the states and territories, 168 in number. These are each states' two national committeepersons and the state chairperson.

In Democratic primaries through 2016, about 85% of delegates to the Democratic National Convention are "pledged delegates" who are apportioned to candidates according to the results of primaries and caucuses. The remaining 15% are unpledged superdelegates(consisting of sitting Democratic governors, sitting Democratic members of Congress (i.e., senators and representatives), former and current Democratic presidents and vice presidents, and a few leaders of Democratic National Committee-affiliated organizations, such as the Young Democrats of America) who can vote for whomever they wish.[17][18] Some superdelegates are former or current state or federal lobbyists.[17] In 2016, following a push by Senator Bernie Sanders,[19] the party voted in favor of superdelegate reform, such that in future presidential elections most superdelegates will be bound to their state primary results.
It’s Wikipedia, but it’s fairly clear. There’s more at the link if you’re interested.

funny how the dnc decided to release 62% of the vote in Iowa, instead of waiting to release the full results. Now mayo Pete gets to go around doing interviews on every network , give speeches, raise funds, while the results are frozen with him in the lead.

when it's clear that when all the votes are in, Bernie will be in the lead. If not for Warren, he'd have a landslide.

this is the establishment trying every way they can to stop Bernie.
bernie threatens them, big business, the status quo, big oil, the insurance companies.
theyre scared...they should be.

Xorkoth: there's still no evidence that Russia interfered last time. If you're talking about some random Russians (no proven links to government) publishing memes online (often supporting Dem candidates or attacking Trump) then that wasn't significant interference. If you're talking hacking the DNC - that was never proven to be Russians. It was a lie. The most probable leak of said emails was Seth Rich, who wound up murdered and the DNC were extremely uninterested in tracking down who killed one of their IT staffers.

The Russia accusations are just a big distraction to shift blame from their own incompetence (or more likely corruption).
And they got away with everything they did last time so why would they be fearful of getting caught or exposed this time? If they get caught doing anything bad they just lie, and Trump has proven that he's not serious about going after his enemies.

Not calling this Iowa shit out as obvious election rigging in order to avoid being labeled a conspiracy theorist is pointless. It looks like this was a fucking op, so make them prove it wasn't. I'm just gonna go ahead and say they rigged it until proven otherwise.

Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg won Monday's Iowa caucus with 26.9% of the state delegates, followed by Sens. Bernie Sanders in second (25.1%) and Elizabeth Warren in third (18.3%) according to Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) Chair Troy Price, after 62% of statewide precincts were finally counted.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic 'frontrunner' if you believe national polls, came in fourth at an embarrassing 15.6%.

That said, Sanders won the popular vote with 27,088 vs. Buttigieg's 23,666.

only 62% reporting bro

It's not just CNN. The idea that the Iowa Caucus should be scrapped because it's too white is a consensus among elites, CNN is just giving voice to that sentiment. Make sure that people that are pissed about Iowa understand this. They fucked up your Caucus because you're white.
