I didn't know if you would or not, but even when I wrote my words I knew it wasn't the right wording.

While I'm not a die hard Trump fan (if I sound like one at times, it's mostly a weak attempt on my part at poking my lefty friends in here), you may find that you and I have very different views of the same events. With that said, I greatly appreciate your honesty and respect your views. Thank you very much for answering my questions. Cheers.
same to you, your perspective is interesting as well

Last I saw Biden was polling the highest slightly above Bernie.

"The BIDENS are entangled in a Ukrainian corruption scandal: Joe Biden pushed Ukraine to fire a prosecutor seen as corrupt. But the prosecutor had opened a case into a company that was paying HUNTER BIDEN. The Bidens say they never discussed it". https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/01/us/politics/biden-son-ukraine.html

Debates should be fun. I guess we're going to see just how much some people care about foreign collusion.

I don't think Bernie is as popular as you think, People remember how Bernie said nothing when the DNC screwed him out of the nomination - and nothing changed since then, there was zero accountability, so we're going to see the same thing again the DNC is going to screw Bernie over for their chosen corporate candidate Joe Biden. And since Democrat voters weren't outraged enough about THAT to complain and enact change - then I have zero sympathy for them.

I could understand, to a degree, not attacking the party you hope to lead. So in that sense, I can let slide his lack of defending himself. But, I believe you are spot on that there is no reason now for the Dems to support him if he was dropped last time. If HRC was a better candidate, and she lost, how would Dems expect Bernie to beat Trump? At the same time, I don't recall much given in the way of reasons he was kicked to the back seat and HRC took the lead (not looking for speculation here, just noting a lack of explanation given).

I still think Bernie is too old - his socialist ideas would be more supported if brought forth by the new sexy, not the old white male. Maybe he falls to VP candidate for someone in the Dem party?

With 20+ individuals vying to become the Democratic candidate for 2020 and two Republicans slugging it out, it's easy to get confused. Here's a guide:

Can we please stop with the ageism.

Also the hypocrisy...Trump will be 73 next month. Bernie is 77. Don't think 4 years makes much difference, especially since Trump lives on Diet Coke and fried chicken.

I'm older than you (shakes walker...tennis ball falls off the end and rolls away)...so I'm allowed :p

You're right, most Presidents have been what, in their 70's? Late 60's at best? The common cry is one is too old, and other is too young. The point, as you make, is 'can they do the job'?

Did Sanders have a VP pick last go-around?

I don't think he made it far enough before they pushed him off stage.

Exactly ?

Bernie can do the job. Even the moderates in the Democratic Party are coming around to Bernie's ideas that were "too radical" in 2016. DNC won't have any choice this time but to accept it.

Beto O’Rourke plans ‘reintroduction’ as 2020 buzz fizzles

NEWTON, Iowa (AP) – Beto O’Rourke barreled into the 2020 presidential race with breakneck energy and a fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants campaign style that saw him leap atop tables to address overflow crowds with the organic, off-the-cuff candor that had made him a Texas sensation.

But since his mid-March campaign launch, the buzz surrounding the former congressman has evaporated. Competing in a massive field of Democratic White House hopefuls, O’Rourke has sagged in the polls. He’s made few promises that resonated or produced headline-grabbing moments, instead driving around the country meeting with voters at mostly small events.

In a tacit recognition that this approach isn’t working, O’Rourke is planning to try again, taking a hands-on role in staging a “reintroduction” ahead of next month’s premier Democratic presidential debate. As he finalizes his plans, O’Rourke has entered an intentional “quiet period” to build out campaign infrastructure, according to an adviser who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the campaign’s strategy.

That will end soon. O’Rourke is planning to significantly ramp up national media appearances – he is appearing live on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday after skipping most such exposure in recent months. He’s also poised to offer more concrete policy plans on top issues. So far, he’s issued just one – a sweeping proposal to combat climate change.

O’Rourke admits he’s struggled to find his presidential campaign footing.

“I think, in part, I was just trying to keep up when I first started out,” he said after addressing about 40 people at a recent house party in Newton, Iowa. “I really feel like I’ve found my rhythm and my pace, and I just feel comfortable, and I feel like this is what I’m supposed to be doing.”

His top aides deny that a full reinvention or “Beto 2.0” is in the works. They note that O’Rourke plans to keep packing days with as many as half a dozen campaign events. He’ll still venture into off-the-beaten path locales that include rural, heavily Republican areas. Those were the trademarks of his Senate campaign last fall, when he nearly toppled Republican Sen. Ted Cruz by visiting all of deep-red Texas’ 254 counties.

But his team also acknowledges that for all its excitement, O’Rourke’s initial campaign launch exposed some disorganization. Assembling a campaign staff while the 2020 roadshow was already rollicking along simply wasn’t sustainable...

Can Beto recapture his momentum?

I think he can, actually, but he's going to have to take some hard stances and get a good ground game.

He's having a hard time keeping up with the others because he's sober, lol.

Meanwhile, Trump is awake in the White House, most nights at 3 in the morning, still tweeting. *SNIFFLES* "I went to ALL THE STATES" how much caffeine/drugs did it take though? Seriously. We're all human and I can see why Hillary lost, she physically slowed down and wanted a break from the extensive marathon that is US presidential election campaigns. That and at some point you don't want to do more to mess things up if things are already looking well for you, etc.

O'Rourke probably won't win, but should. *shrugs* life moves on.

Here's some amusing fare:

Trump Calls Buttigieg ‘Alfred E. Neuman,’ Buttigeig Calls Trump Old

“I had to Google it,” said the Democratic presidential candidate. “I guess it’s just a generational thing. I didn’t get the reference.”

President Donald Trump came up with a nickname Friday for Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg: Alfred E. Neuman — the freckle-faced, gap-toothed nerdy cover boy of Mad Magazine.

But Buttigieg came back with his own zinger, slying dinging the 72-year-old president’s age, saying the outdated reference was a “generational thing.”

Trump told Politico Friday that “Alfred E. Neuman cannot become president of the United States,” when he was asked in a phone interview what he thought of the mayor of South Bend, Indiana.

Asked later about his new moniker, Buttigieg, 37, said he had “to Google” the reference to the mascot of a humor magazine launched in 1952.

“I guess it’s just a generational thing. I didn’t get the reference. It’s kind of funny, I guess,” said Buttigieg.

He added that he was “surprised” Trump wasn’t “spending more time trying to salvage this China deal.”

Others also piled on Trump. New York Times political reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted that the Neuman reference would have worked better 20 years ago.

Mad got a bit of dig in at Buttigieg:

Trump appeared to imply in the Politico interview that Buttigieg, who is gay, isn’t tough enough to take on America’s international rivals. “He’ll be great representing us against President Xi of China,” Trump said sarcastically. “That’ll be great. I want to be in that room, I wanna watch that one.”

Buttigieg, a former Rhodes scholar and Navy Reserve intelligence officer, served in Afghanistan. Trump dodged the draft decades earlier because of “bone spurs.” He told shock jock Howard Stern that he suffered his own “personal Vietnam” during that time dodging sexually transmitted diseases sleeping with women. “I feel like a great and very brave soldier,” he said (video below).

Trump mentions in the video that avoiding STDs was his "personal Vietnam". How classy.

Odd question....how many think Hillary might throw her name in the ring again? I suspect damn few, and likely fewer might support her. But I'm curious of the room temperature on that one.

Another question - what if she gets brought on as a VP candidate? Anyone think she would? Would anyone be in favor of that?
