The 2018 Trump Presidency thread

Oh shit, the Nazi candidate is in Cook County? That's where I hail from originally... or right next to it anyway. Yep, you're never going to get a Republican elected there, even if it wasn't a Nazi.

You know maybe you should let the nazis break away from the Republican party, let the iceberg melt. Maybe Trump wouldn't have won with a white nationalist party stealing away half his votes.

Or maybe Trump supporters really aren't racist, and it wouldn't have changed the outcome?

p.s. Jones is racist and full of hate. I have laughed my ass off over the nonsensical rant he went on CNN. Quite worth the watch.

I imagine Trump is a big fan of Jones and would vote for him if he could (probably giving him $ for his campaign).

Just when it seems like he couldn't say anything worse...

I sometimes think it's part of a clever strategy - acclimatising people for authoritarian government, basically.
Trashing the press, sabotaging institutions, undermining the role democratic governments have traditionally played.

But other times i think he's just a sick, pampered and deeply fucked-up excuse for a president.

Either way, it's great to see you posting in ce&p, xork. <3

its both. he wants to be a dictator and he's an incompetent, whiny, selfish, entitled crybaby that extremely fucked up and has no business working in government.

what if the Russian prostitutes were actually men??? My dad thinks Trump likes pee too. lol whip em out

Edit: maybe someone is secret consultant to Colbert :3

has no business working in government.

This.

Everyone I talked to who liked Trump as a candidate (one person in California, yeah, he's not popular out here, who would have guessed?) the moron thought this was a plus side. He was a phenomenal moron and I mocked him incessantly over the issue.

No. He ran his businesses into the ground. He is not a self-made man, and would have failed without a billionaire father to start his businesses off for him (and he still fucked up massively).

Even a good business man shouldn't be president. It's like hiring a prostitute as your brain surgeon. You want politicians to be politicians.

lol good one =D

To be fair, there are plenty of Trump supporters that are not racists and have just been blinded very badly by the divisive partisan politics of our country. It's just that all the racists are Trump supporters, because, well, the why of it is obvious.

Exactly. He started out with hundreds of millions of dollars from his rich father, he was born into extreme wealth. He has run his businesses into the ground and declared bankruptcy multiple times. This is simply a fact. If he had taken the money he was given to start with and invested it in a safe, modest return investment, he'd be worth more now than he is.

yeah, i do appreciate that - it was a bit of a facetious dig at some of the rhetoric i've come across from trump supporters online who furiously deny there is anything racist about trump's political approach ("political approach" seems like a totally inappropriate way to describe his style of presidency. what about \his pitch? his scam? his get-rich-quick scheme?)
quite often those people will also deny that racism exists anymore, or that the word 'racist' doesn't mean anything anymore.
i've lost track of the amount of times i've read that in CE&P, and it's never made the slightest bit of sense to me.

so i guess the overall sense i get, is that you might not have to be "a racist" (y'know a prejudiced asshole who is vocal about it) to be a trump supporter - but do you think it is fair to say that some of the people we're talking about are simply oblivious to trump's explicit appeals to racist sentiment because he's just talking the language they do every day - the language of complacent white privilege. which isn't racist, but it is created by institutionalised racism.
it takes a certain amount of institutionalised racism to be present in your culture to not consciously pick up on trump's racism - just as you'd presumably have to exist in a pretty patriarchal society or culture to not pick up on his misogyny.

it's not fair to say "all trump supporters are bigots" - but they are complicit in it by supporting him, so i still blame them for it. i'd love for people to engage a bit more critical thinking; there is so much tribalism.
sheep in wolf's clothing....

they may not be racists themselves, but they support politicians who support and enact racist policies and legislation, so the effect is still the same. they're effectively racist and support systemic racism, regardless of their personal beliefs on the matter.

the boy scout speech is weird too :)

Did anyone else see yesterday's The Daily Show and the footage of Ben Carson accidentally letting a fart rip on Fox News? My money is on him to be the next "casualty." Trump is reportedly furious at him after his lavish spending on furniture at HUD became public. I remember seeing on MSNBC a while back a reporter trying to ask questions while he stood there silently and an aide had to tell the reporter over and over that "he wasn't answering any questions." The man is the definition of arrogance. I don't think Trump will actually fire Sessions since [maybe] even he is aware of the bad optics of doing so although that was a pretty ballsy move on Sessions's part to be photographed with Rosenstein and Noel Francisco. I guess he doesn't appreciate being called Mr. Magoo.
