the 2010 NFL playoffs!

am i the only one who's baffled by the response of dallas player keith brooking, to the score?

what the hell are the vikings supposed to do? stop playing? not try as hard? this is professional competition. if brooking doesn't want minnesota to score, it's up to him to stop it, not whine about it when they can't...

San Diego sucks balls in the playoffs...from the 14-2 season to now. I feel sorry for how bad rookie coach Rex Ryan and rookie QB Sanchez are going to get the living shit kicked out of them. I know the NFL would LOVE for another New York team to make the SuperBowl because of how massive their marketing campaign would be, but it just won't happen. So the question is...who will win the Vik's/ Saints game? I am going with the Saints but Colts vs. Saints or Colts vs. Vik's will be awesome compared to last year's Cards/Steelers(despite it being a goood game).

Vikes @ Saints looks like a killer game....

I really have no idea who's gonna win this one....Both teams looked great in their divsional game, the Cowboys are a good deal better than the Cards though...Makes me nervous as im a die hard Saints fan.

But man has anyone seen Reggie Bush play like that since USC? Even before the big plays, he really looked fired up and was running alot more north/south. You could see that its ingrained it his head to juke, but he fought it and made himself run north/south....In which he gained alot more yards....Towards the end he started to kinda revert to super juking....But it really made the difference on the 40+ yard run....Unbelievable juke there!

I had the same thought. It must be the American Footbal culture, but I know there is hell to pay if the All Blacks don't put away the minows by 80 points and play until the final whistle. Even if they win, the papers will focus on the final 20 minutes where things get sloppy and lament that if it was against a stronger side they would let in a loss.

I understand poor sportsmanship, but we are not talking about an exhibition game against a poor semi professional club. If you are paid $x 000's of dollars per game then you have a responsiblity to your supporters and those in the crowd to try until the end, especially in a playoff. I think it reeks of poor sportsmanship to give up and expect the referee to end the game 5 minutes from time and is like refusing to shake hands at the end of a defeat.

Reggie Bush played lights out. I'm rooting for the Saints here on out, since the Cowboys are out of it. I love my NFC South (Panthers fan here). And Keith Brooking is a punk. He acted like a punk during the Atlanta game as well (his former team). You can take the player out of Georgia Tech but you can't take the Georgia Tech out of the player. This dude has inferiority issues, just like anyone who comes from the North Ave. Trade School.

I hope the jets get up because I heard Winnie Cooper promised Kevin Arnold a blow job if they make the Super bowl again.

I go to Fresno State, and I remember a couple years ago when Fresno was playing the trojans at home during the 25+ Pete Carrol winning streak. Fresno was playing really well and managed to get up by 10 points, then Bush turned up the heat and ran for like 150 yards in the second half and beat us.

Then he gets to the NFL and runs for jack shit.

This playoff was the first game i've watched where he has managed to be an explosive runner breaking tackles and making plays out of bad situations like he did at USC. It may be a different story this week against a very solid vikings Dline and secondary but i'm rooting for him to do well.

Baffled? no. In most situations it would be considered running up the scoreboard and padding your stats to do a passing play on the goal line like that with Dallas so far behind and the final seconds ticking away.

However, this is the playoffs. Teams need to come to play for the full 60 minutes and be ready for any type of playcalling no matter the score (for the fans if for no other reason). I disagree with how Brooking reacted, but its good to see someones pride taking a bit of a hit after getting their asses beat in the playoffs instead of just trotting into the off-season and collecting their paycheck.

Jets are looking good! Jets, in MY Super Bowl? It's more likely than you think!

In related news, what the hell is up with placekickers this post season? It's like watching bad college teams trying to score, it's insane!

Pshh... I hate when the officials make big calls that decide games. Giving the Saints a first down instead of 4th down on the 36 yard line in sudden-death overtime certainly qualifies as that. I really had no favorite team, but as a football fan I was loving the game and hated to see it end like that.

They didn't give them a first down, they gave them a 4th down and the saints went for it and converted.

I dislike the whole overtime system TBH, and I hate to see Farve end the season (and maybe his career) with a costly interception but I was rooting for the saints and i'm glad they won it.

^I'm talking about the pass interference play (when Brees was throwing the ball away), sorry I wasn't clear.

Yeah, I also think the overtime in the NFL is stupid. A coin flip should not carry so much weight, obviously.

Ya I agree, the pass interference and roughing the passer calls really had a big impact on the game and some of them were questionable.

It was a really good game overall, its unfortunate that those types of penalties had such a huge impact on the result.

the game should not have even got to overtime. there's only one person to blame for the vikings' defeat and that is brett favre.

he threw a cardinal sin of a pick when he could have just run 5 or 7 yards, got out of bounds and set up a perfectly kick-able field goal for longwell (who is a great kicker).

at this level, you can't expect to turn the ball over five times and still get to the superbowl.

Yes!!! I called the Saints, and they did it. Sweet.

I don't know if I'd blame Favre entirely, though he is culpable to an extent with that pick 6. Therer were a bunch of fumbles that didn't help the Vikings either.

Overall, great games.

Awesome!! New Orleans is going to the Super Bowl!!!!!! :DDDDDDDD
Man I bet they are partying it up down there.
Good Game :)

AP is good but he can not seem to hold onto the ball. I would rest my blame more on him than Brett Favre, if I were a Vikings fan. although I like the Vikings for their monstrous defensive line, I never really liked Brad Childress. the fact that he remains impotent and can't even reach the Super Bowl with the likes of that D, Adrian Peterson, and Brett Favre - is astounding.

looks like I should have picked Saints VS Colts all along. it was the glaringly obvious pick, but sometimes you just want to go crazier routs. should be a great SB - maybe even better than last year!

Yea welll the entire offense is to blame....Wayyy too many TO's....Percy Harvin and Bernard Barrion coughed up the ball as well...The Vikes D played exceptionally well in the 2nd half tho....

The Saints D isnt really designed to be an elite shutdown D....They just make plays and have been the main reason they are as far as the are right now....They've put a beating on the past 2 future hall of famers....Lets see how they face against maybe the best of them all in the SB

But yea my Saints somehow made it....Man there were too many times where we choked time after time....year after year...like the Vikes did...

The Saints came into the NFL in '67. They didnt have their first winning season until '88. Didnt win their first playoff game until 2000. First NFC championship until '06. And now, finally, a Super Bowl in '10!!!

my power went out in THE MIDDLE OF THE SECOND QUARTER. i was horror struck. cousin came home with the car & i listened on the radio. the whole damn world seemed to go silent for that young man to kick that field goal.
and yeah, i ran screaming into the woods like a banshee.

colts v saints, just like i said all along :D

Peyton Manning is in a class by himself a la MJ in the '90's.

The Saints are NOT going to force him into throwing multiple (or likely ANY) picks.

The Saints have an opportune defense, and an explosive offense, but that opportune defense is NOT going to get nearly as many opportunities to cause turnovers, because Manning simply *IS* capable of dominating a game both physically, and mentally.

If the Colts get the lead, I see them playing their pace, and cruising to a clear 10 to 17 point win.

If, on the other hand, the Saints get the early lead, then I can see a chance that their multi-faceted offense might outscore the Colts in a VERY high scoring game.

So basically, I think this game will likely come down to whether the Colts defense is capable of at least somewhat containing the Saints O.

I say "probably."

In my opinion, the current money line (IND -210) (NO +175) suggests that the bettors give the Colts about a 65 percent chance of winning, and I think that's about right.

Either way, I do look forward to an entertaining game - it's nice when, for a change, the 1 seeds, who dominated their respective conferences nearly all season long, get to meet in the big game.

I do still love basketball.

But I love this game, too. :)
