I remember that night
Your head on my chest
Legs crossed with mine
Your hand on my heart
I felt you exhale
As I brushed your hair
I remember looking up at the ceiling
Watching the fan orbit
And for once…just once in my life
I felt at peace.
Calm,
Relaxed
No insecurities
No doubts
No unease
No fidgeting
The inner voices of torment gone
The pillows seen much fluffier
The sheets seemed softer
The world didn’t matter
The future didn’t concern me
Just as long as I felt your breath
Just as long as you lay here
With me
Together in our unity
