Testosterone replacement therapy

Just did my first injection. Test is a bitch to get in the needle though
You need to get the right supplies. Use an 18g needle (larger gauge) to DRAW from the vial to the syringe, then unscrew the 18g and screw on a 23g needle onto the syringe to INJECT. All of these supplies are dirt-cheap, so get the right tools. Best length for both drawing and injection is 1-1/2”. The 1-inch is too short. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions.

Got my testosterone today. It's testosterone cypinate and im prescribed 150mg's bi weekely. The pharmacist made out like injecting this is a big deal but ill try and get the pharmacist here to inject me with it and if they cant ill have to do it myself. We will soon have to fucking diy everything in this province cause we have no in person doctors anymore.

Is this a good dose to start with and what is the usual dose anyway?
I forgot to ask….did your doctor also prescribe a weekly dose of Anastrozole? It’s a tablet that lowers your estrogen levels. Why? Because Testosterone Cypionate injections will also increase your estrogen levels, which comes with its own problems. When your doctor sends you for your first set of bloodwork in a couple months, make sure one of the tests is for ESTRADIOL— this number measures your estrogen levels. If it’s getting too high, he’ll have you take Anastrozole every or every other week. DM with any questions.

Nope i was wondering about test raising estrogen levels. Do you also need anything like HCG?

I actualy have a thing for blood work and im going to get it done in the next week or so

I bought the 1 inch needles thats what everyone said to use here. Ive never used needles as long as the ones you suggest i dont think

I’ve been on Cyp injections for about four years, I take 50cc (50mg) of 200mg/ml strength Cyp (it comes in 2 different strengths, 100mg/ml and 200mg/ml), once a week (a standard dose for TRT). Mine was due to 15 years of pain management (oxy destroys your body’s ability to make its own T). Injecting is so easy you can do it in your sleep. It’s IM (intra-muscular), not IV or subcutaneous, so multiple muscle options exist. Many use their butt cheek but you need a mirror and it’s awkward. Your thigh muscles are preferred, and many/most MD’s will nowadays steer you towards using your thigh. I’m 56 and have a full head of hair and no shrinkage issues. Average T levels for my age are roughly 250-750, and when I first went to my urologist, my number was double-digits, 67 I think. After just one 13-week cycle, my number was back in the “normal” range. And has stayed there ever since. It’s now anywhere between 600 and 1,000 whenever I get tested. Happy to answer any questions, just reach out to me.

You said to use the 23 gauge needles to inject correct? Ive been using 25 gauge and im going to go buy some 23 g because the 25's inject very slowly. So ya 23's make sense i just didnt think on that and everyone else said use 25's. Ive never used 23's before.

I am also on pain management. I am prescribed morphine and have been prescribed it since about 2007. However i was off opiates for about a year and a half or 2 years there due to being in the psych ward and being yanked off my meds cold turkey. The GP i got when i got out flat out refused to prescribe me any meds either. Finally i switched doctors and got one that was willing to work with me. However i didnt go back to taking my opiates like i did before as i wasent in that much pain at the time and i just didnt want to be addicted to opiates again.

However in the past few days the pain has come back so i may need to take opiates more regularly. I am going to take breaks when not in pain though because i really dont want to be addicted again. I enjoy not getting sick from not taking morphine on time. Right now im only prescribed 30mg's of mscontin a day but i usually just shoot up some 60mg shots and take a break for a week or so until i get my next prescription. That way i dont get a habit. I never found opiates to lower my sex drive though and oxycodone actually made me more horny. One time on oxy i thought i was getting priapism but it turned out to thankfully not be that. My dick did go down on its own thankfully lol.

One thing i wonder about if is the Invega and Abilify i was on might have totally fucked my testosterone levels. I didnt get a erection for a year and a half or 2 years because of invega and abilify injections. I swear my testicles shrank a tiny bit in that time to. I know antipsychotics effect testosterone levels more then doctors seem to care to admit. The bitch doctor i had when i came out of the psych ward completely wrote me off when i said that abilify was the reason i couldnt get it up.

Turned out it was because i switched from abilify to latuda and my sex drive came back once the abilify came out of my system. So i was right it was the abilify and my now former doctor was wrong. I thankfully got rid of her went with another doctor who was great but unfortunately he retired and now i have a virtual doctor who is usually pretty good. They where the ones who got me on testosterone so im grateful for them

Just got my blood test back today and it was 6.7 which is just under normal. My doc isnt going to raise it hes still going to give me 150mg's every 2 weeks.
