I have noticed that when I test a tab, if the
powder I scrape off stays in the same spot as little specs (even if it turns purple/black quickly) the tab is not as good as the tabs that I test that the powder spreads in swirls throughout the whole drop of testing liquid. For instance, I recently tested some "dot coms" (the @ symbol on them), "double J's", and some "Versaces" in the Houston area. All the tabs turned purple/black. The dot coms stayed as itty bitty specs of powder, the double J's and the Versaces spread out a little bit more when they reacted. But when I tested some Mickey Mouses (the pinkish ones) a couple of weeks ago and then these blue elephants the other night, the entire drop of testing liquid filled up with purple/black swirlies. I was careful to use the same size scraping. On myself, I took prolly 4 dot coms and barely got off. But with the Mickey Mouse's or the Elephants, I only needed ONE! **and this whole time, I thought I was building an endurance. they were just really weak tabs! Hallelujia! Has anyone else experienced this?

My personal experiences would indicated that if the purple is forming in "specks" it would suggesst MDEA or MDA, BUT:
Any reaction to dark purple or black would suggest an MDXX like substance

The effect you are seeing may be more due to the pressing of the pills than anything else. Virgin pills, made by those that actually manufactured the MDMA and pressed the pill mixture for the first time, would break into a more homogenous and free flowing powder without chunks.
After these nice new pills are taken by another dealer, broken down in a blender, and then re-pressed into another pill, you will get some very hard bits (bits that weren't broken down by the blender), some softer bits, and some non-homogenous bits. In addiiton, as they add more fillers and binders (microcrystalline cellulose, Calcium hydrogen phosphate, caclium carbonate etc) you will get a pill that will behave like the others (weaker ones) you described that were full of bits.
So they are probably weaker, but the visual description you give is more likely due to their pressing history.

Thanks for the reply. That makes a lot of sense. That really blows though! well, I'm glad to have that info!

ChemicalGen - so do you reckon that this is why some pills are speckled?

absolutely. a pill pressed from an original batch of pure MDMA usually would have no reason for speckles... unless maybe the filler or binders were of poor quality.
