Marquis - purple/black in 1-3 seconds

Simons - no color change

Robadope - no color change

Marquis indicates MDXX

Shouldn't Simons also change color if it is an MDXX substance?

Yes. Whatever mixture is in the pills, it doesn't contain any primary or secondary amine - e.g. MDA or MDMA,

i.e. if the amine test results are reliable (buffer added, age of reagents, etc.)

Many compounds can produce a dark red-purple-black reaction product with Marquis. Thay is why it's good to have another reagent like Mandelin or Mecke on hand to back up the Marquis result.

Expired Simon's kit is also a possible explanation. We had that happen with a DanceSafe kit once - we were dubious of the "known MDMA sample" the customer claimed to be testing, but we sent a new Simon's kit and it worked as expected.
