Test kit question, and molly capsule question.

Just got my test kit from dancesafe. woot! Question about th ekit though, The reagents all came in a sepereate white pill container, with some pepper looking stuff. Is this pepper stuff necessary to keep in the bottles, and is it necessary to always keep it in those bottles when not in use?

I plan on testing a molly capsule ive acquired. Whats the best way to take out the powder and test? Ive never taken apart a capsule, and want to be sure i can put it all back in when necessary.
 
Im pretty sure thats just the packing to keep it from going bad, not sure though. There are some pretty specific rules to keep it safe


as for the cap, the best way to do it is to grab both sides of it,and slowly pull them apart while twisting, that usually does it. You can pinch the smaller one a bit to change the shape of it and make it easier to pull out (lol) They usually wont break, but be careful and dont put too much pressure on it


Also, you only need a tiny tiny tiny amount of material to test it, like 5mgs or so
 
I just keep my reagent bottles by themselves in my home's safe (along with drugs and jewels, of course ;))- no special packing material needed.

You only need a tiny amount of material (powder) to test, the easiest method it to gently open the capsule over a disposable spoon, attempting to only get a tiny amount out and just re capsule it. Capsules are designed to be opened and closed a few times and are very sturdy until they hit water (your mouth). Should you accidently unload too much- no prob, just repack it into the capsule, and the remaining miniscule amount of powder on your disposable spoon is what you test.

Simply drop a drop of the reagent into the spoon (spoons allow you to get the reagent right on the powder you're testing). You only need just enough powder that it's visible, the tip of a pen size will do- the reagent should cause the reactive area to "bleed" and look larger.
 
Just FYI on the packaging: The glass bottles with the reagents are placed inside plastic safety bottles with vermiculite just in case the bottles leak. The reagents are pretty corrosive and we don't want to destroy other peoples' mail (let alone burn a postal worker) if a bottle leaks or breaks in transit. :D You can totally throw the outer bottles and vermiculite away once the kits arrive. I dump out the vermiculite but keep the outer safety bottles for storage in my freezer.

thanks buddy. I did just that. Is it necessary to store in a freezer? I live in a pretty cold climate......
 
At the very least keep them in the cool and dark (basement, freezer, cold room, etc) since they break down over time with heat and exposure to light, and they also react with the dropper cap, slowly.

ok cool, i got it in a dark cabinet, cold spot, and in the white bottles. That should be enough :D
