^ it's hypocrisy pure and simple. Tempered with bigotry, of course.
You seem to judge very highly based on internet reports and MSM, you're not American nor do you live here, why do you care so much?
What makes you assume i'm not american? You don't know anything about me.
Events in america affect the whole world, and national divisions are artificial anyway.
I inhabit the world; if you want to restrict yourself to domestic issues, a domestic outlook and a totally insular view of "foreigners", that's your prerogative.
Why do i care so much? Because i'm not an apathetic person, i care about what's happening in the world, and i care about people, not just myopic tribalism.
I don't feel the need to justify myself to you, but it is interesting to offer you a perspective you don't seem to be exposed to very much.
Now, you've described the media you presume i'm informed by - and i'm going to do the same and guess that you are informed by fox news and other
angry-old-man-get-off-my-fucking-lawn-worldview news channels, along with a few outrage-for-profit right-wing conspiracy sites like breitbart and infowars.
Am i close?
I love living in a harmonious, diverse, pluralist society rather than one that condemns people for lives they were born into.
I think a lot of the people who advocate 'western values' (especially in contrast with their perception [right or wrong] of islam as a force of pure oppression) miss the fact that what makes 'the west' a good place to live is the fact we are a diverse society with liberties that include
freedom of religion.
Trump isn't an american hero for his anti-muslim, anti-migrant stance - he's actually taking a shit on your constitution (and then telling you it doesnt stink).
The nazis tell us that "multiculturalism" has failed, but they've not really provided any examples of monocultures - or
any empire ever that
hasn't failed.
No society is perfect, because society isn't perfect - but that's no excuse for xenophobia.

I think the U.S. is starting to come apart and this attack is just one of the signs. So was the Vegas attack. When anyone grabs a gun and just starts shooting or drives a truck into innocent people, society is entering a period of serious derangement. These people represent the utter extreme version of a system-wide illness that's not being addressed. It's not guns, it's not who the President is... those are all just symptoms. The problem runs deeper. America is experiencing a cultural identity crisis combined with a government who's all too willing to monopolize upon it.
I think you're absolutely right; great post.
This is a systemic issue, and i think it's important to think about it, and talk about it, rather than just presuming to know exactly what causes terrible things like this to happen.
Shutting off discussion, and shutting off analysis - and simply claiming to know what the problem is - seems like a good way to perpetuate everything that is wrong and dysfunctional.
