Cocaine temporal lobe epilepsy and cocaine

so i've picked up a habit of treating myself to nose candy every weekend or every other weekend. it's pretty expensive considering i only buy the pure, freshly crossed kind... i live on the mexican border and seriously, had about 8 little specks, not even rocks the other day and i was on cloud 9 for an hour.

thing is i'm on a benzo regimen (victan 2 mg/day) for temporal lobe epilepsy, i don't have convulsions just simple partial seizures (derealization/depersonalization which i don't really mind, and occasional hypomania).

just wondering if anyone can throw in their two cents over whether this is safe or not. nothing regarding addiction, i have nooooo addiction problems, never have before, this is about my 8th time doing coke and i have extensive stimulant, opioid, and benzo use. i can literally make a gram of coke last me about 3 days.

as far as im aware this could be dangerous. any stimulant, most antihistamines and tramadol should all be avoided imo. they can all reduce your seizure threshold which doesnt sound like a good idea for an epileptic person

not to be a dick, but it isnt pure, far from that tbh. even when it leaves colombia it is already cut down ALOT.

thanks for the feedback! and i'm sure it's cut with all sorts of crap, but it's some of the greatest stuff i've ever hit! :)

thing is i don't mind my seizures, they're more like mild states of mania, which i can manage through meditation. i use tramadol 200-250 mg every once in a while as a stress-reducer.

I won't add to the inevitable pile of cocaine-avoiding advice, but I do wonder why you are on a benzo for long-term treatment of epilepsy. I may be mistaken, but I thought that benzos are only meant for acute episodes, not maintenance since tolerance to the anticonvulsant effects develops quickly. Have you considered an actual anticonvulsant? Most of them also control mania for unknown reasons.

I stand corrected. Lucky the doctor I heard that from doesn't do anything even remotely neurological. I'll just cross through that part to avoid confusion.

By "actual anticonvulsants" I meant drugs like carbamazepine, valproate, lamotrigine, etc. whose effects are more targeted, as opposed to benzos which have plenty of other effects as well.

This is incredibly dangerous. Youre doing alot of damage to your brain each time it seizes. please do not take tramadol, aswell as avoid cocaine.

wow... i forgot to reply to this. any way, no seizures thus far.

but i notice my hypomania has gotten a LOT worse, and i quit the benzo's cold turkey too so that might also be it.

i'm actually considering that i might have borderline personality disorder, which is known to co-exist with epilepsy.

need to get my head cleared up... BAD. before this gets any worse.

oh and benzo's are Rx'd pretty often for epilepsy in conjunction with an AED. yes, i am on magnesium valproate, i forgot to mention, however at the time i got off of them due to excessive sedation. and i do enjoy my occasional natural "flight of ideas", i usually write a lot of lyrics down when i get struck by that manic lightning.

but i'm going to get my sh*t together.

strange thing is, the benzo's really DO make epilepsy worse in the long run, i was having mania more often before i kicked them.

In addition to having quit benzos which may be contributing to your hypomania, remember that stimulant use often "boosts" people into manic/hypomanic states, especially if people are prone to mania (and/or suffer from bipolar disorder) in the first place.

I'm not a doctor but I can tell you that cocaine use (and stimulant use in general) can make your mania worse.

tramadol is going to reduce your seizure threshold, benzos will lower it, cocaine will increase it a whole fucking lot.

be really careful doing coke if you haven't taken your meds, because the lack of it in your system will make your seizure baseline twice what is was before.

tramadol+cocaine - killed ol' dirty bastard.
