speaking strictly about meth.
is there anyway to tell the good shite from the cut to hell crap basied solely on things like looks, smell, etc...
cause fawk......i used to think that good meth should be a nice white and come in chunks. but this moist yellowish stuff proves that wrong.
 
good meth is glassy and clearish rock or shards not powder.
good cranks is USUALLY yellowish
 
Don't go by smell.
You can test it using EZ Test Classic and the speed of colour change (bright blue) indicates relative potency.
 
What lysergic said, regarding SHARDS.
I can usually tell by taste, also...but you need to be experienced to be able to do so accurately.
Of course, you can get really good meth that is coloured and powdery...but only rarely. The good stuff is almost ALWAYS shards.

and outta curiousity, what's with the yellow stuff that's occasionally going around?
i'm thinking it's either regular amphetamine(yellow crystals in a pic from erowid), or methamphetamine sulphate.
any ideas?
 
Fairnymph is definantly correct.
Generally speaking, pure methamphetamine should be translucent-almost entirely clear crystal shards, often with a very subtle brown tint to them.
Nobody who is selling high quality stuff like this is going to crush the shards too small. So don't let anyone tell you they just crushed the shards for the conveniance of saving the buyer time. Someone with high quality shards wants to leave the shards as large and intact as possible, even in $20 bags so that the buyer knows they're getting top of the line stuff.
Occassionally you can get some pulverized powder that is of exceptional quality. It's usually the shards crushed up, but it will be cut to some extent. However if it's top of the line meth to begin with, then even up to 25% cut isn't going to hurt very much and you should still tweak out of your mind. I've had a $40 bag like this keep me up for almost 3 days before... and it was just some crap I bought at a rave.
 
Actually, in all my experience, good methamphetamine has been clear cyrstals, with a tint of white. I was curious as to why this was, and researched it further. It seems many pure chemicals, methamphetamine included, will either be clear crystals or a shade of white, owing to the fact that the valence electrons are completely uniform and lined up. Interesting.
 
uh, heroin spelled the orgchem way- chemicals take on colors due to conjugated pi bond systems as a general rule.

He is confused because he doesn't realize you are referencing C21H23NO5 as "heroin spelled the orgchem way."
 
yea, that and the whole color thingee... learning the quantum shiz that makes or is indicative of colors in chemicals is neat, i try to propagate the stoopid knowledge... but the conjugated pi bonds have nothing to do with mef purity... just colors of compounds. i guess i got too chemical/physical..
