My dear bluelighters, here I ask all of you -
Am I not the only one in here who is dying to get out and see the fuckin world ??!
Am I the only one here that on the odd occasion, when I need to daydream a bit, I jump on Lonely Planet Online and read stories, check out destinations and look at photos ??
I'm now almost 19.
And just during the week over lunch with a friend I first realised that I have not been out of Victoria in almost two years now. And it's been even longer since I got very far past the border. Next I realised that I have never made it out of Victoria without my parents!
What lies on the road ahead is eating away at me !
And then speaking to people who are soon to leave .. or who have been and returned and told me tales .. or who are overseas at the moment and tell me via email about the places they are at .. it eats away at me that little bit more.
The worst is when I speak to my uncle ~ he gives me the update of one of his daughters', my cousin, and how she has been travelling through South East Asia, over the Himalayas, down through Tibet, Nepal, India, Pakistan and is currently in Afghanistan.
I'm starting to lose it here.
No I'm not starting. I started about two years ago. Now it's stepped up a gear.
If I had the choice, I'd pack up in a week from now and take off overseas (hmm maybe not next week ~ realistically I'd probably wait until after new years eve ~ I dont want to miss earthcore).
First I'd go to Europe.
England, France, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands top of my list.
I'd just drift around, with my camera ~ instead of planning my route before I go, just go with enough resources that I can just see what happens, see who I meet and where I hear stores about, and go wherever the road takes me.
Another big fantasy / dream of mine ~ to go to South America .. to Brazil, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela and also Mexico.
Again to float around - to see / experience the culture, to just be in a world so completely different from here.
A friend of mine travelled to Cuba with his mother last summer, as well as the United States. He showed me this beautiful photo of a road running behind a small shack-like building sitting on the bank of a vast, glimmering lake, facing on the opposite side a mountain range and the sun setting over those mountains. As I looked at this picture, I said to my friend, "You know if there's one place I'd love to be, it would be there, sitting out the back of that small shack there, my feet up, watching the sun set over those mountains every dusk, toking on a big fat J".
Another friend just recently returned from India and told me how she loved her adventure over there, but how she found it to be so crazy over there and such a different world to what happens over here that she's glad to be back.
I want to know your opinions.
The topic is >> travelling.
Anyone who goes off topic will be shot and will get kicked out of my thread. Yes, this is mine. I made it. You want to come in here and socialise and leave annoying one-line posts that include only some smartass personal joke comment that only two other people will understand > ? I will personally kick you out ! (within reason)
I want to hear about where people have been ~ not only overseas but here in Australia too.
I want to hear the stories that people who have made it out there have brought back.
I want to hear where you want to go ~ which places you feel are calling your name.
I want to hear your dreams of leaving the world you know and finding another.
So tell me.
