Hi guys,
I have searched a good time on the web for interactions between Tegretol and SOMA, and I found here and there that "...it potentiates some recreational meds like Tramadol, benzodiazepines and SOMA...".

I have these 2 SOMA pills, some Klonopin, and lots of Tegretol (I was given it because it's cheap and I'm prompt to seizures), do any of you guys have experience with these meds? in particular, I would like to know how much Tegretol I should take to potentiate the SOMA and the benzos, I couldn't find anything of help anywhere yet. Thanks in advance.

Carbamazepine is not recreational at all, and it's side effects are distasteful.

Carbamazepine will induce the enzyme that is responsible for breaking down clonazepam and tramadol. For tramadol this means more conversion into O-desmethyltramadol the more potent opioid. For clonazepam, carbamazepine will increase clearance and decrease blood levels. For benzodiazepines you want to inhibit the enzymes that break them down to increase blood levels and duration.

Carisoprodol is metabolised into meprobamate through CYP2C19 which carbamazepine inhibits, something you don't since its effects come through this conversion.

So in theory it should make the tramadol stronger, the clonazepam weaker, and the carisoprodol weaker. Personally, I've tried it with all three and the sheer side effects cover up anything that the drug does through induction/inhibition.

I was almost sure after googling for an hour, that Carbamazepine potentiated benzos and Carisoprodol... I wasn't sure about the Tramadol because I tried it and didn't feel too much difference. Well, that's too bad then. At least the 3 meds combined should help against serious insomnia right?

All you really need to do is check which enzymes metabolize these drugs, whether it's in your best interest to have them inhibited or induced, and see if carbamazepine induces or inhibits them. In the case of benzodiazepines you always need an inhibitor eg. grapefruit guice.

Tramadol with carisoprodol and a low dose benzodiazepine is a wonderful combination in itself, even if the carbamazepine had a positive outcome on these enzymes it will completely tarnish the euphoria.

Thanks. I did take 950mg of Carisoprodol now, but I already did 200mg Tegretol. Hope it doesn't affect everything too much.

^ If you're referring to the carbamazepine I think the OP is only taking that to offer him/her protection from the risk of seizures since they mentioned being prone to them.
