I must let go of the world I know,
If I am to be free, if I am to grow,
I know the track, I need some slack,
Your hold is tight, you hold me back,
From that place that I can taste,
Please don’t let this go to waste,
Burned by the fire of want and desire,
If I don’t get off now then soon I will tire,
I’m out of time and this life is mine,
Please understand I'm doing just fine!
I need some rest, I'm sick of this test,
Please do not hate me for being my best,
It’s been a while, in between smiles,
Enough of these tribulations and trials,
I wish you could see the inside of me,
All that I want is to be happy and free,
Forget of my health and forget my wealth,
My happiness comes from inside my self,
The world it tries, to tell me otherwise,
But I must keep my eyes on the prize,
I wish you knew, my thoughts are true,
I know that it's also deep inside you,
You don’t know why, but I ask you to try,
Open your eyes and I'll teach you to fly.

this felt to me like a monologue to the world you mention in the first line, a sort of statement of self sufficiency, self containment and aspirations you hold. Good job!

thats exactly what it is....

partly aimed at friends... partly at family... but very much at the world as a whole and the silly ideals that the world holds on to.
