I'm discontinuing solpedeine (acetaminophen, codeine and caffeine combo).

I actually tried acetaminophen and codeine as replacements, and they didn't do much.

Oddly caffeine provided better symptom relief.

I've noticed coffee spikes my mild tinnitus slightly.

I've read tea is gentler in terms of causing jitters etc., but I am also looking for the energy/mood boost.

Any thoughts on using coffee versus tea for long term consumption, as an energy/cognitive booster........ and I find it alleviates exhaustion induced headaches fairly okay as well.

There is approximately 95 mg of caffeine in an average 12 oz cup of coffee and 29 mg of caffeine in an average cup of black tea. A cup of matcha tea, however can approach that of coffee. I prefer coffee however that is by palate and not effect. In my experience the caffeine effect is equivalent if equal in total intake.

iirc usually tinnitus caused by a drug is due to vasoconstriction in the inner ear, caffeine causes norepinephrine release which can cause this

withdrawal from opioids can also cause increases in NE release which is why clonidine is handy for opioid withdrawals

the combination of codeine wds and caffeine, even with tolerance, is my primary suspect in the tinnitus

as for what's better, as @Cheshire_Kat mentions they're basically equivalent and green tea has other compounds like EGCG which have their own antioxidant benefits but those can be obtained in supplement form as well

personally I'm a coffee fiend

Due to drinking more tea than coffee, you mean?

It just evens out?

I Recommend L-theanine Found In Green Tea Bags. I Also Like Caffeine (from coffee), Theophylline (from Oolong tea), And Theobromine (from chocolate). However, Lately I Have Been On A Luzianne Green Tea Kick And Think You Might Like It. Some People Use Green Tea For Weight Loss. Here Is The Structure:

THEANINE (from Green Tea)

CAFFEINE (from coffee)

3,7-dimethylxanthine.png

THEOBROMINE (from chocolate)

Methylliberine goes a long way in potentiationg and expanding the effects and duration of as well as the enhanced focus and motivation of caffeine
That's found naturally co-occurring in coffee, right?

I sometimes add a little hot chocolate to my coffee, not sure if coco would contain that as well?

How long would the effects of a cup of coffee typically last?

i.e. how often would "re-dosing" be necessary?

On methylphenidate, despite the short half life, once morning, once late afternoon was sufficient.

Perhaps caffeine as a stimulant isn't dissimilar?

Usually 4-6 hours, but with added methylliberine, depending on dose, I've had 200-400mg of caffeine last up to ~30 hours. Keep in mind that I'm a very slow metabolizer.

500 mg Of Caffeine Is Biosimilar To 20 mg Amphetamine In Rodents. Theanine Is Not Chemically Or Pharmacologically To My Knowledge Related To Either But Is Worthwhile In Its Own Right.
