No, it's from Sweden. Basically it is pickled herring in a barrell and left in the sun for several weeks. The smell is unbelievable and if you eat it, you may puke but surely you won't get rid of the foul taste for weeks. When I saw it I couldn't believe anyone would eat it voluntarily. Disgusting...
That reminds me: I tried a fresh durian milkshake last night. It had the characteristic smell and everything. Was SUPER tasty too, although one of my dining companions couldn't get past the smell.
I, for one, think that I'm going to invest in a durian, and have a durian eating party in my courtyard. Rancid-smelling-but-oddly-delicious food for the win!
It was love at first sight! She thinks she is a lapdog. I ran her in the dog park with around 10 other doggies of various breeds today (one other purebred Sibe and one Alaskan Husky, two Boxers, one beagle, two Chihuahuas, the others were adorable sweet mutts); now she is tuckered out in front of the fan on her blanket. I still have yet to try one.
I have wonderful news. I am now proudly owned by a dog... and not just any dog. I have wanted a Siberian Husky since I was a kid. My mom wouldn't let me have one when we lived in the deep South - she thought it was mean to have a snow dog in the heat/humidity. Point taken. But now I live in a cooler climate where plenty of happy huskies reside. I met a family who is moving to Arizona and needed to give up their 11 month old female purebred Sibe. I went and picked her up Thursday night. Her name was already Chloe and I kept it since she knows it. I'll post some pics in the pet thread. Chloe has a mostly black and white coat with tan tips in parts, rich brown eyes (not all Sibes have blue eyes; any color is acceptable in the breed, even two eyes of different colors!), and she is a ~40 lb ball of puppy love.It was love at first sight! She played so cooperatively.
Pics forthcoming in the pet thread. If you are on my FB, you can see some there.I have waited so long for my sweet, smart, silly clown of a sled dog. I was obsessed with the Iditarod and Yukon Quest coverage especially this year. Everyone except my housemate thought I was joking when I said I was serious about getting a husky. I wound up with one who wants to be a sled dog... time for yours truly to pick up the fitness thing hardcore. This doggie was born to run!

Greetings.
I hear that it's tasty.
