3 reasons I gave up on guitar at an early age:
couldn't ever tune the damn thing
couldn't get the strings on
and it hurt like hell on the fingertips

People kept saying that I would build up callouses but it didn't happen fast enough I guess. Sorry I didn't stick with it--it's a beautiful instrument.

Did you break the e string bad? Takes ages to learn how to string the damn things.

Herbivore, I used to soak my fingers in vinegar to help with the blisters and hardening of the skin, once you've got some really good blisters the callouses start forming when they heal up, does take a while though.

It's a pity it's still at Uni or I'd have taken a picture of it and posted it, I got proper de ja vu when I saw that photo.

Both, fine art and integrated media, but since the crps spread into my arm and hand I am struggling to do my artwork so had to put my degree on hold for now :(

y'all shoulda seen the upright bass the guy out of frame was playing. that thing was so beat up and repaired with plywood & twine, it was only a step or two above a good ol' bucket-bass. The old toothless Mexican guy playing tied it all together though, even if the instrument sounded a bit raggedy lol

have you ever heard a cigar-box guitar? they make em with usually three strings IIRC... one pickup from a bass for rhythm, and another for the two-string lead. Go check out some Ben Prestage vids from YouTube.... awesomely talented one-man cigarbox swamp blues, other of Florida.

I shall check this out in an hour or so, i don't know where my headphones are and it's too early, my son has weird sonar hearing so he'd wake up for sure and I'm too sleep deprived and sore to cope with him for 3 hours before school starts :S

Doomed I am really sorry about all the things you have had to give up after your accident. You have an awesome attitude.<3

IX! and IX w/ IX pictures is even better.:) A mí me encanta la música mariachi!

am listening to Ben Prestage right now--never heard of him b4--One Crow Murder--he's amazing.

My whole life has been put on standby really, but I've been looking into doing some more studying via open university, I can handle that, I don't have to leave my house and I can do all my essays with dragon talk so I'm not having to use my hand too much :) I just hope I can get the funding for it. My art degree was like 85% practical so when my hand started in march I tried my best but some days I can hardly hold a brush or pencil. Typical it spread all the way up my right side, just my luck lol. The weathers really kicked the pain up tonight,it's been snowing and everything :/

^snowing? Wow, it was sunny and I was working outside today. I could actually go in for seeing some snow right now. It would fit my mood beautifully. I'm feeling the need to post a picture since it's the photo thread after all. I'm going to go dredge something up.

pastel painting of a couple of houses around the corner from me

I'm in the uk, we seem to be getting more snow these last few winters. It's nothing to America standards, I don't think it's coming down too bad,or at least I hope not asi need to go to the drs this week and snow + crutches = not a chance in hell.

Beautiful painting, you've got the effect perfect there. I likey :D

When it's not a stupid time I'll see if I can manage a rummage in my studio and see what work I have here, most of it is still Uni though as I didn't have enough storage space here. Think I might have one of my journals somewhere though

I hadn't even seen that, I will do, when I can drag myself out of bed to go look lol

It is a very, very well painted piece. You haz mad skillz herba :D

In all seriousness though I'd love to see more. I still can't go and rummage through my stuff I am still stuck in bed :( meh crappy weather hurting me.
