You guys have no idea how much I appreciate your compliments, especially about my smile! Unfortunately I don't smile much after knocking a bunch of front teeth out (the two K9s on either side of the middle front teeth are implants and one of the top front teeth is dead which leaves it gray and makes me self conscious). That coupled with years of smoking... However, these posts have me smiling right now! Thankfully I got into the dentist before my insurance gets cut off in Feb. so I have started whitening my teeth. Woohoo.

Molly, you are gorgeous. You have a really natural look--I wish more women would realize that they look way more beautiful like this. Less is more =)

yah it was ridiculous. this guy in the most serious way ever got his and his ~posse~ to believe that i stole that song from THEM. i have the dates on the page i printed out the damn lyrics out the night they came over if they really wanted to get technical.

and thanks i really love doing the electronica stuff over my indie stuff, it's so much fun. i love to dance to songs like that. i listen to kaskade allll the time his remixes make me move like no other. i know exactly what you mean too. once you are approached with a deal like that you become stuck and in the long run could be back shelved. soo many artists that are newly signed are one hit wonders and put on the back burner.

running away is definitely the song i try to push and promote like you said. i do get people all the time that say they can't get it out of their head and it's not necessarily my voice or lyrics (though i'm not putting myself down) the beat is INSANE. i absolutely love it. so i got close with the beatmaker and can continuously get beats whenever i want from him. it's just i have so much competition in the pop/electronic world i feel especially with that new g6 song girl.. dev. she has a great electronica voice and is a folk singer like me.

sooo flattered you picked one of my songs thank you haha! i've never considered sending them to radio stations, does that actually work? and oh believe me i know exactly what you mean. the atmosphere of people actually singing along or bobbing their heads to your music and smiling is better pay than the actual money itself i've been paid for for gigs before.

i took my guitar and set up (amp, mic etc) to Penn Station and made 70 dollars in tips in A HALF HOUR!! people were wanting to take pictures with me, stayed through my entire sets. it was unbelievable. probably one of the best experiences of my life, cause those were just regular joe shmoes walking through the train trying to get their shit done but liked what they heard enough to stop and listen, and one of em even dropped me a twenty! a twenty bill tip! unheard of for me haha

thanks for the inspiration though, i will keep writing. i love writing and i have more fun writing when i have a killer beat to jump in on. a friend of mine did a remix on one of my acoustic songs (whats infront of me - attosecond mix) and it turned out stellar. i had no idea how something like that would sound but i absolutely love it and if i could remix all my folk/indie songs into pop/electro i would in a heartbeat. i dance to my own pop songs, not so much my indie stuff haha. when i got beats and started writing i felt like this should be my forte, i have more fun and i'm way more into it and it ends up sounding actually pretty fucking good. i still have an electronica song i wrote with an insane beat but i dont have rights to the beat and it sucks cause it would be better than any of my other songs

heh

~essay ends soon~

that's where i started - open mics. and you do meet people, connections for music video filming, mixing and mastering. i would suggest going to a hookah bar!

rah rah ah ah ah :) wantchobadromanche

this has my blood hot..!
so exciting, but equally intimidating..
:-x

for sure,,, radio stations with "hot-or-not" type segents are what id be pursuing and have in mind here; thats what they are there for.
if you have a manager/agent, talk to them first :\ boohoo ~ and have them do it if possible, seems youd be taken more serious initially & not make them sore haha. when you find somewhere that does have a hot-or-not show, then they are going to probably have a month or two waiting play list, unless they just love you~or your manager...

playing on the street is something that current successful artists will still do, for the satisfaction-and anonymity probably ~ see what people react to.
but who knows who is walking by; producer, mngmt; promoter; established musician/writer; film-sound-scout; label owner... etc.

contacting random established electronica producers to do a remix, and it then being played by djs at random events - is a formula that many currently established artists use still to break out new sounds for them, or reach a new target audience.

youve got a great/classy/strong look(i pointed this out from the beginning :P) and now, we are privileged with the surprise of real talent..! out-standing.
be yourself and as individually as possible, be damn tenacious with these people, keep the stark range thang going-but keep it casual and cool as it is; hearing you switch from the electronica to the folk type stuff, was surprising, but natural sounding for you.
very cool and casual, it didnt sound like you were trying to make either work.

~~~~~~~
exciting - ill stop now.
hahah
<3
:D
I think I've actually mentioned that before in another pic thread when UNH posted a similar photo. If I didn't actually type it I was certainly thinking it loudly =D
I think this is perfect for TDS, because it is the last picture I can find that isn't a private pic if you get my meaning, where I am truly happy, because of that specail person that is laying down next to me. Just in case you didn't know, I'm the guys and thats my wife, the most gorgeous person in the world to me. I think I was raided in less than 2 weeks from this pic
I know I'm new here, but you dog lovers may appreciate my lil' mutt.
Found her as a stray in a bad part of town, basically a ghetto, and after a month of trying to track down an owner she became my new dog. Her life definitely improved moving in with me. As difficult as raising/taming a dog like this can be, I feel like I saved her from an otherwise pretty unpleasant life. That makes it all worth it. I think she is half Pit Bull/ Unknown. I'd be curious to know what kind of combo you guys think she is.
Welcome to The Dark Side Erik! :)
You dog is gorgeous!! Good on you for giving her a new home, she looks very loved indeed <3
It's always hard to tell what crossbreeds dogs are, but she definitely looks like a pitbull, either purebred or crossbred. Either way she is really pretty!! Do you have any other photos of her? What is her name?
Apart from the fact that she looks about 45 pounds ;)
Although that pic's angle could be deceiving :)
I'll post a few more soon. Her name is Xena. She's actually 65lb, the pic makes her look smaller. I don't think she has enough definition in her muscle to be pure Pit.
It's too bad there's such a stigma against Pit Bulls. Far too many of my neighbors have threatened to call the SPCA/animal control even though she has done nothing bad, except look like a Pit.
Whoa 65lb?! Awesome!! In that case, she probably isn't just pitbull... She may be crossed with something larger. We can speculate all day but it's so hard to tell for sure.
It breaks my heart when people are so prejudiced towards pitbulls. In themselves they are actually really lovely dogs. They are very intelligent and very loyal. It's just the absolute cuntish dickhead owners who choose those types of breeds with the sole purpose of making them in to guard dogs, or worse yet, fighting dogs *cries* :(
This then causes those individual dogs to become monsters, against their will. They can't help it, it's the way their owners force them to be.
So horrific.
BUT considering that you don't know her past, it is essential that you be really diligent with her training and obedience because to be honest you don't know what she's experienced before. There could be something that sets her off like small dogs, or children, or cats etc. You just need to be really wary while you're completely figuring her out.
Sorry you would probably know all of this already, but I'm just ranting :)
Are you doing any formal training with her? Or just stuff at home? And by the way, Xena is the perfect name for her! <3
if i had kids, and a neighbor, a next door neighbor who got a standard poodle, or a dalmatian, id be a lot more concerned.
the pits ive come to know, have the same feeling about them as yours does in that picture, just very very sweet. you treat them like any other animal, with respect, and dont get full of fear...
the LEO's here are doing something cool , and sending a bit of a message out by adopting pitbulls from states like colorado and using them as police dogs...! hah!
=D
seriously, a police dog, that takes a very intelligent, patient, self-aware, obedient animal...
Xena says "thank you" for the nice posts... I only talk to my dog when we're alone BTW :)
You're right with the advice n30. I've had her for awhile now and am slowly acclimating and socializing her to the world. I assume that she must have spent her first 1-1.5 years in some kind of cage, because she is very sensitive to unusual stimuli. I'm an Animal Science student so I know a bit about training. At this point for her mind goes like... "different=dangerous/scary", which I'm hoping more and more monitored socialization will improve.
As far as I can tell she wasn't physically abused or put in fights, because she has no scars. Aside from that it's a total mystery. I have zero tolerance for dog fighters/abusers, in my opinion they should be thrown in the fighting ring themselves. Asshole Micheal Vick only served a 1 year stint and then got to play football again! He had a massive dog fighting ring.
Haha don't be shy mate, I talk to my dog ALL the time, like he's a person. Regardless if there are other people around ;) =D
Oh cool! I'm a trained vet nurse, but not working at a vet any more.
Sounds like you're doing a fantastic job with Xena. I bet she is such a sweetheart :) <3
Oh and yeah, I feel the same way about people who fight dogs as well. It is one of the things in this world that really makes me so angry that I want to cry :(
