Hell yeah man, it's awesome! I think that writing music has been a great outlet for me this past year. I've been growing in leaps and bounds with learning the instrument, I can't imagine how much further along I could be if I cleaned up my act.

I think that my guitar will be a critical piece in my recovery from opiates when I finally get sick and tired of... well, being sick and tired.

What do you like to play, acoustic or electric? I have both but my electric is just a cheap Ibanez Gio and it just isn't as nice to play as my Taylor acoustic. Taylor makes excellent acoustic guitars, I bought mine for $650 and I think it sounds better than some guitars that I've played that were in the $1000 price range.
 
I play both acoustic and electric and I am practicing my singing and writing as well.
You will get way further along when you clean up. That's almost a guarantee.
I think my musical abilities in general, in addition to all my mental and physical abilities picked up considerably when I got sober.
Also, playing out in an open mic setting really does wonders for your confidence. Especially if you do it without being high. You feel an enormous amount of nerves the first few times you do it, but once you've done it a few times it gets better and better.
 
I love Eric Clapton; a true living legend. I hope he stays around for many years. Definitely one of my favorite artists of all time...

Speaking of guitar ; )

Is that an LG chocolate? Nice to see pictures of other people on the forum. I wear that same skirt you have in picture #2; looks beautiful on a 6 foot tall guy.
 
i lovve it. i'm from orange county though so i'm already spoiled off of the weather, it is too lovely. idk though socal is a lot better than sb, cept my school is the shit love love love it =)

Yeah I couild tell youre in a dorm, classic wood furniture.

its like 15 degrees out right now.... back in cali...me and my ex would just go in the jacuzzi every night n relax.

When I walk outside here I feel like I live in north canada or something. well at least you kno you're spoiled with the weather, lol.

let me guess...you're either a 2nd semester freshman, or 1st semester sophomore, am i right?
 
well... it's my second quarter of my first year but i'm a sophomore (almost junior yay!) according to units... yepyep i'm a nerd ;)

lol I was right. and yes that is borderline nerdy .. I did things the complete reverse ( time wise )

Just make sure you stay focused...I was in the same situation, set to graduate in about 2 and a half years, but the drugs got the best of me and I had to drop out only 30 credits shy of a degree :\
