Meth Taste/smell with meth?

In recent months I’ve gotten fairly heavy into smoking ice, and while I’ve had a few bags that have had a noticeable taste(IME the best ones always have this one particular taste) but majority of the shit I’ve got my chainsmoking ass can’t taste or smell anything from it. Im definitely new on the scene so excuse my ignorance if it’s normal to have shit like this but I’ve bought countless bags at this point and never once has it been like this.

This last bag I got though, I loaded a (brand new) bowl of it and everything was good, only loaded a tiny piece so soon after had to pack again and immediately tasted the most foul shit I’d ever tasted come out of a pipe. I don’t even know how to describe it other than chemically? Perfumy maybe even? Shit tasted horrible so after waiting a while and making sure I wasn’t gonna drop dead from smoking who knows what I passed it to my girl to have her taste it and she said it tasted weird but it didn’t seem to faze her nearly as bad as it did me. It had a smell just like it tasted too, and I swear I can recognize the smell but can’t think of what it is. Could only smell it if I put my nose right up to the stem though. After my girls hit I got it rolling really good and just blew through the stem to clear out the next hit and hit it again and haven’t tasted/smelled it since. Not sure if I just got used to it fast or if it’s something that vaped away before the rest of the shard.

Is it unusual to have such a strong smell/taste? Could it be cause it’s a fresh batch? Something weird at the top of my new bowl that had to be scorched out? Weird cut? Someone spilled some shit on it or something? Washed it?

I haven’t tried another piece yet cause the shits still going though. There was one big ass chunk that’s hard af to break(normally the best shit) and the rest seemed to be smaller shards that seem to break easy/crumble like the shittier end of stuff we get. Dude had sent his girl to re up as soon as we got there so we got a mix of their last shit and new shit so idk what I packed. Either way it’s got me zoomin already so it’s good at least

TL;DR is it normal for meth to have a strong taste/smell? Am I gonna die? lol

Edit to add - shits left a taste in my mouth too. Can’t say it’s a bad taste cause there isn’t really much of a taste but don’t think I’ve ever had one left before. Kinda metallic I think. Now that I think about it I think this is how my mouth feels/tastes when I do the shit that makes my tongue hurt

If you don't die from the ingredients used to make meth, I'm sure you'll be fine. You have to remember that every batch is different. Every cook is different. Sometimes a step gets skipped and it changes the entire make up of the meth. There's also the transportation to get it to this country or wherever you are. They pack it up in all kinds of stuff. I've had stuff that tasted so bad I would gag. I've found that if you leave your bag open, or the meth out, it helps to get rid of the bad taste/smell.

Just torched it to check and yeah that’s exactly how this is, didn’t think it was taking a while to harden but I’ve definitely been taking my time between hits checking for that taste again so probably didn’t notice at first.

Does the crystal itself smell like that or do you mean while smoking it? Cause this dude put my shit in like half of plastic bag and torched the fuck out of it and I can’t tell if the shit smells like burnt plastic cause of that or if it smells like something else. Power of suggestion is a bitch cause my girl said maybe it tastes like plastic cause of that dumb shit he did to the bag but I really don’t know. I know for a fact the taste isn’t cause of it but can’t tell if that’s what the smell is(on the un smoked stuff)

Fair enough though, I know there’s a lot of variables and likely endless possibilities in the differences but I’ve had a pretty small range in the shit I get so far and guess this kinda just really threw me off.

It’s taking forever to get through the bowl too, still smoking the same piece and I loaded it up like 30 minutes before making this post

As someone already said, it could just be any manner of byproduct or something from the synthesis that causes a smell or taste difference. I dont think id go out of my way to get that smelly meth again, but I think you'll be fine.

Honestly no matter how good/bad it is I’m turned off cigs when on meth lol. As bad of a habit it is to have I will say it made me cut back on smoking, definitely not enough to save my lungs but enough to save at least a little bit of money at the end of the week. Which in turn isn’t really saved cause it’s going to meth huh lol. It helped me quit drinking too, and I originally even started to get off of subs which didn’t work for fuckin shit at all just ended up on both. I’m on attempt number like 87 of getting off subs though

This shit sounds like it’s the same as what you’ve been getting but I’m finding it to be pretty good other than that initial taste. Not great but way better than some of the bags I get. I packed my old pipe with a shard off the big chunk and it just has the slight taste I associate with the good shit I normally get which is majority of what I have so I’m guessing the smaller shit is the nasty shit luckily
