Hypothetical question: Would it be possible to taper off a long acting benzo (such as clonazepam) with a short acting one, such as lorazepam?

No.

Flurazepam, Diazepam and Clonazepam are the best for tapering due to their long half lifes.

What dosages do you tape and what supply do you have and I'll write you a taper schedule. Also do you have access to gabapentin or lyrica?

Also how long have you been taking them, and do you take them higher than prescribed and if so how often?

Actually this is all sort of a "what if" I were to get hooked on kpin. I've been doing it sporadically, maybe 2 - 3 times a week at most for a few weeks. Started off with 1.5 mg, now need three to get to that same point. And I mostly use it in doses >1 mg (unless mixing with anything), but I've yet to do more than 3 mg at once. I have enough loraz to take 1 mg / day every day for five months.

Well theoretically it would be possible, you would just have to space out your lorazepam doses so the short half life doesn't leave you in WDs between posts.

I'd have to ask the obvious why would you want to? tapering on a benzo with a longer half life has a much better chance of success and is no where near as bumpy on the way down. But I guess availability may come into to it here, best thing is not to use daily in the first place.

In fact unless you really need it medically then don't use at all, you'll end up dosing higher and higher unless you have a will of steel, your Loraz will all be gone much quicker than you'd planned and you'll be right in the ....well a mess.....drugs are bad mmmmmm;)

I have to answer no too. In theory it could be possible yes, in practice, no.

Tapering is done with long-acting benzos, thus reducing the severity of the WD symptoms. The WD symptoms from short-acting benzos are worse. Been there, done that.

If you have only been taking kpins 2 or 3 times a week for a few weeks, you shouldnt have any problem stopping anyway.
