Tapering dosage for Effexor

My friend takes 150mg XR. He says he once ran out of his pills and used some old 75mg XR for a few days. He noticed no difference. Isnt there supposed to be withdrawal from such a drop in dosage? Also he once forgot to take it and said he felt psychotic for the day. So if he were trying to taper his dosage down to nothing how long should it take? He's saying he only needs a week of taking 120>100>75>55>35>20>10 then nothing. Is that realistic? He said he's done it before. Maybe he doesn't withdrawal as bad as most people? He also smokes marijuana all day every day, maybe that has something to do with it?

effexor can stay in your system for upto a week depending on how much/long you have been taking it for.
to be honest, go to your psych/doctor/gp and speak to them about this, you shouldn't attempt to come off something if it makes you feel psychotic.
there is only so much advice we can offer hear, i would talk to a medical professional and work out a proper timetable that suits you and can be monitored.

i tapered down from it too and am thankfully now off it. those night-sweats.. gross
