Talking to my doctor; methylphenidate

I am prescribed Concerta (methylphenidate), which I'm happy with, however i would like to try adderal (mixed amphetamine salts) as well just so i can be sure which one is more suitable for me. Next time i go in im going to ask him two things;

1) Can i go on Ritalin instead of Concerta? (Ritalin is instant release Concerta (methylphenidate)

2) Can i try Adderal?

I don't want to come off as someone who's just looking to experiment for shits and giggles, i have serious ADHD i scored 45 out of 50 or whatever, putting me in the Adult ADHD category.

He will probably ask me why i want to go on the instant release form, i want to have the instant release so i can insuffilate the substance on certain occasions. (im not going to make a habit of this but there are legitament times when orally will not suffice on account of i need the medication immediately) So what should i tell him to get him to prescribe me the instant release?

i don't know you could tell him you dont wanna stay on stimulants all day and only take them when you want to study or work? hard to know, i don't know your doc

i never got to try adderall but people say it's much better than ritalin, which gets a lot of hate. i personally enjoy ritalin but just a bet if you are on concerta every day, you should wait a few days off of it to try and get high, or else you won't feel a thing

I suggest to just tell your doctor the truth. Tell him that you feel like Concerta "kind of works" yet isn't enough, so you would like to switch to the IR form (Ritalin) so you can take it when you need it instantly.
Since Ritalin and Concerta are both methylphenidate, maybe you should suggest him to prescribe you Adderall XR - maybe with Adderall you won't feel like you need to snort it to get it immediately.
Another option could be to maybe have an extended release stimulant prescribed to be taken daily (Concerta or Adderall XR), and also have Ritalin prescribed to be taken as needed. I'm not sure about this, though, and since I'm no doctor I can't tell if it would be contraindicated.
Again, I'd just tell your doctor the truth and see what you can do about it.
