Taking LSD with Sumatriptan

About combining hallucinogenics with migraine medication:

A friend of mine suffers from migraines and uses small doses (25mg) of sumatriptan to cope. It's a drug that binds to serotonin receptors in blood vessels and constricts them and generally doesn't cross the blood-brain barrier.
We were planning on tripping tomorrow, but today she woke up with a migraine, and these usually last a couple of days.

I did some reading on sumatriptan and it seems that the possible risks and contraindications would be from either taxing the MAO enzyme in the liver or from an increase in serotonin levels in the brain, leading to serotonin syndrome. It seems to me, though, that since the dose of sumatriptan is very low and LSD is not known to increase serotonin dramatically, the worse case scenario is that the trip would affect her more than the usual (which is, in itself, not a problem since we're all experienced).

Does anyone have any knowledge about this?

LSD should alleviate the migraine so the sumatriptan could be skipped if all is right. A friend of mine used to inject sumatriptan until he discovered the wonder and healing of LSD. :)

My friend has had one horrible trip experience taking acid while having a migraine, so that's not gonna happen again. :)

I suffer from migraines and have been prescribed sumatriptan for them for years. It is the only medication that works (apart from LSD, which I am convinced is the best antimigraine drug out there).

Psychedelics which can alleviate not only migraines but also cluster headaches can apparently also cause headaches (I am not sure how harsh), so reliability is not 100% and it can be paradoxical. I assume that is what happened to your friend, well it may have. But I understand if he just doesn't want to take the chance again. However if we think about it, there is a possibility that psychedelics may cause them despite the sumatriptan but you would have to be quite unlucky. Other than that, sorry I don't know about the interaction.
