So, SWIM finally took the big step and signed up at their local rehab, getting prescribed suboxone. Last night, SWIM was up all night withdrawaling, and is usually reluctant to take a sub before 24 hrs in fear of getting even more sick. About 18 hrs went by, they couldn't take it, they took the sub, 20 mins later felt much sicker and paniced, then *bam* feels better. SWIM did it! Finally got on subs! Then, only 5 or 6 hours later, a not so evil person did a sort of evil thing- H right in front of SWIM. So, still feeling groggy and a bit sick (much better than before, but still not wanting to move from the couch kind of sick..) SWIM gives in, feeling like an IDIOT afterword, felt a mild rush, but not a lasting high (which seems to be a common reaction) SWIM has to go to rehab on subs tomorrow, so continuing to use a few more times is no option. The H made SWIM feel a bit better, but still achy legs, grogginess, etc. Plus, SWIM didn't sleep last night, and hoped the H would knock them out- no luck. SWIM figures it'd be wise to wait at least the 18 or so hours before taking their next sub, but since their last shot was basically shit, and they still felt sick, do you think they'd need to wait the full 18 again? Or would it most likely work a bit earlier? I know the best answer is to wait, but SWIM needs sleep, SWIM needs to go to rehab so that SWIM doesn't fuck up their only chance at the free rehab/subs program. I know everyone's body chemistry is different, drug reactions differ from person to person, but does anyone have any experience with this or input?

First, don't use SWIM (in any of BL). Second - definitely wait. You've already screwed yourself over by doing the H, now you have to wait as long as possible before taking your sub again. You should be in moderate w/ds before you dose. I don't know how many hours between your last (H) dose and when you have to be at your rehab... but don't take your sub tonight. Try to help yourself sleep some other way. I don't know if you smoke pot but you could try that. Just wait for some more/better suggestions. Check out the suboxone megathread, or the wd megathread/threads for suggestions on easing opiate withdrawal. There is a hell of a lot of info in these forums.

Thank you for your reply. I wasn't sure if SWIM was an okay term to use, but last time I posted on her everyone was telling me I cpuldn't say, "my friend was sick and..." So, I don't know how to refer to, whoever.. Yano. Anyway! I don't smoke pot anymore, I'm just really hoping that my lack of sleep will knock me out for a few hours. *Sigh* This is gonna suck. Allll over again. Already sickly and only a few hours in.. Not to complain, but, well, yes. Completely to complain, so I guess instead I should say sorry to vent it out on here.

I know how you feel, man. I'm going to see a sub dr after two consecutive runs in inpatient treatment for opiate addiction. I've been through the wd process far too many times. I shot up the DAY I got done with round two of treatment and now have to wd again before I see the sub dr next wee.

We just have to shape up and deal with the shitty choices we make, learn from them and try to move forward. Hang in there (you... or your friend).

I don't know if this applies to you in any way, shape or form but my drug counselor recommended to me recently that if the withdrawal symptoms become too severe to combat on my own to not hesitate to go to the emergency room and explain my situation. I did just that and walked out with four different prescriptions (a muscle relaxer, an anti-anxiety/antihistamine, a non-narcotic pain killer and a sleep aid) to ease the pain. If you have insurance and are able to, I definitely would because it makes life a hell of a lot easier when you're withdrawling.
