There are soo many problems associated with alcohol addiction. I very rarely drank until in my 30's. Since then I've been to many classes, group therapy, CBT, day therapy. It's really up to you when giving up. Personally; I tend to swap from one thing to the next. Benzo's are really addictive, but when I get over the initial gaba withdrawl; with Ben or Booze, I see things much sharper and more clear.
It does take up to 3 weeks until my thoughts thought this isn't worth it.
Then relapse thinking about things that are messed up in my life.
'They say' alcohol takes about 6 months to clear the system; but 2-to-3 weeks really does make a difference.
Librium; I think was the first benzo, or at least a very early one. It will assist you, if you choose it as a new addiction is up to yourself and genetic makeup. Each person is different though. The red swollen hands, the feeling of bloatatness; kidney problems, a cough from the irritent of toxicity. Not to mention damage to the pancreas, the brain.
Please make the effort to give up.
Best of luck.
