Im on suboxone & have been for some time. Once a month I get some 15mg opana & for 4-5 days use about 20 of them. When its time to switch back to subs, its qute unconfortable. It takes 2 days of being pretty misearable & the third day Im almsot back to normal & 4th day is fine. I usually take 16-20mgs sub the first day & around 16 the second (I take 4mg/day throughout the month when I am stable. I have to work & its no fun dealing with this for 2 to 3 days. Is there any way to make this easier? Obviously taking more sub doesnt help, Ive tried. What about if I were to take 30mg oxycodone for those 2 to 3 days. Maybe 4 or 5 30mg/day...would this make the switch easier? The reason I ask about the 30mg oxycodone is because I have never had trouble switching from it to suboxone, I have always felt just fine & I know it will keep me from feeling so bad so Im wondering if I took it for those couple days, would the opana work its way out of my system in that time like it would be doing if I were taking the suboxone?

The only thing that would make it easier is tapering way down on the opiates before making the switch.. also, you need to stop going back and forth because the bupe starts to really loose its effectiveness and become less efficient the more times you on and off. If you continue like this, the transitions will only get worse, and then when you really need it and need it to work correctly, it wont.

I see this has no replies so I thought I throw my two cents in the hat. Now, I might be missing something, so forgive me if I'm off but isn't Suboxone for getting "off" narcotics? I never taken them but that's what I thought. If that's true, why are you continuously going back and forth like you are? Either take the oxys or don't but don't go back and forth. I think the Subs are an antagonist for narcotics, basically negating their effects. You're just running in place IMHO and wasting your drugs.

Sorry if I'm mistaken but that's what I've heard and read. Good Luck though~!

Yes subs are for getting off. I have a hook up on the opanas for free once a month so I take my sub throughout the month & then have a little fun for 4 to 5 days. Really it's not even fun for me anymore. Just this 2 to 3 days of hell makes it not worth even doing & I don't even want to anymore. I'm making the switch right now & Im miserable. I believe this is it for me & I'm never going back to opiates full time, ever. Now I have another battle to fight...I've been on suboxone since late 2010 & I didn't realize, until it was too late that suboxone is not good to be on long term & is the devil to come off of. Im absolutely scared to death of coming off of it & I'm not sure how I'm going to do it but I've got to figure something out because it's taking almost all of my paycheck every week. idk what to do

If you taper slowly and correctly, you can get off suboxone without it being horrible. You just have to do it right and come off at the right dose.
