Well my thread about swimming and skiing got me thinking about other physical activities that are fun while under the influence of our favorite herb. One thing came immediately to mind: Swimming! At my university many members of the swim team and diving team (who happen to be some of my best friends) smoke constantly, including during practices and even during meets. Thing is, they are also very good, some of these potheads have speed records in certain events at various pools.
I am a lifeguard, and I have also noticed that a lot of lifeguards smoke. More than the general population. I also noticed that a lot of these lifeguards are good, responsible, and fit. I would never smoke on the job and in fact disapprove of it, but some of these guys do it all the time and are really good lifeguards (of course this is only at smaller pools, it would be homicidal to try to get away with this in open water of in more crowded pool areas where you have to constantly be scanning the water.)
Anyway, I recently started trying swimming high and found it to be mad fun! I'm a sprinter (freestyle) and usually hate long swims; I can barely swim 500 yards without getting tired and stopping. The 50 yard freestyle sprint is my event. But I found when I smoke I can go for up to 2 hours, losing track of distance and getting into a rhythm of swim, swim, flipturn, swim, swim flip, ect. Weed actually improves my ability to swim long distances.
For me this only really works with freestyle; the other strokes for me require more concentration and I can't really drift off, especially backstroke where I hit my head on the wall
D ) but its still fun. My gym has a sauna too; I'll go swim for 90 minutes, come out, and sit in the sauna for a while. Who knew staying in shape could be so much fun!
Anyway, what are your experiences with this combination?
