Before I go into this thread, I'd like to let all the ladies know that you can get in contact with me via PM. I'm a Capricorn and I like blueberry tea.

Okay, so I have a weird problem: My armpits sweat the most after I've put on anti-perspirant. It's very embarrassing when I can't wear my favorite light colored shirts for fear of pit stains.

The odd thing is, when I haven't showered in 24 hours, just laying about the house, I don't sweat at all! But sure enough, as soon as I put on my anti-perspirant (doesn't matter which brand, I've tried them all...) I start weating through my clothes, even when it is below freezing outside. This is such a problem for me, I don't know what to do about it!!

I dont know how common this is... But i have heard that some people botox their armpits so they no longer sweat.

Yeah I notice this too, I normally wait like 5-10 min and wipe my pits with a paper towel once or twice before getting dressed. I normally don't sweat too much after that either.

I used to have this exact same problem for years.

I don't anymore. Well, I rarely do. Maybe once every month or two. But for years it was every day. Extremely annoying.

I concluded that it was due to anxiety. Unfortunately, the onset of sweatiness would often increase my level of anxiety 2-fold, just leading me in a viscous cycle.

Do you worry about things a lot? I think mine was mostly correlated with social anxiety.

Ever take benzos (xanax, clonazepam (klonopin)) recreationally? If you notice an absence of sweaty armpits when you would expect their presence while on benzo's, then I would say that that's a strong indication that anxiety is the root of the problem.

Do you use a stick or a roll-on? I love me some stick deodorant. I feel fresher and not sweaty! You could also try dusting some powder on your pits after putting on the deodorant.

Capricorn you say? Earth signs rock! ;)

yeh armpit sweat sux, axillary hyperhydrosis technically i think

most likely anxiety man, when u use deodorant you are getting up and at em going out or whatever so there may be nerves there, happens to me also

another possible factor is medications, some such as sertraline (SSRI antidepressant) that Im on make it twice as bad, one side effect can be increased sweating seems to do it to me unfort

yeh botox injections in the axillary glands will poison and screw them for a few months so they wont release sweat, definately works though its not permament. Think about the anxiety side of it though man and look at what might be causing it, whether its physical or a response thing

i have something called driclor that i use before bed(it's like a roll on deoderant) and then wash it off in the shower the next day. it stops me from excessively swet=ating from my armpit area=D *i know i am the sex with my sweatyness!!*- the only down side is that shaving my armpits is like a timed millitary operation now due to the fact that if driclor is applied to broken or sore skin it hurts and itches like a mofo......part from that it's been great!!=D

^I don't shave my armpits. Maybe I'll give it a shot. is it prescription like Drysol?

I use a stick deodorant, MC. The roll-ons make it a lot worse though. Botox sounds expensive, but it also sounds like something I'll waste money on (like William H. Macy in Magnolia and his braces). nitrous, i think a lot of may just be nerves. I used to be totally addicted to xanax and it took forever to quit. I'm still a nervous wreck socially, and unfortunately no doctor will prescribe me any benzos. Seems like I don't sweat much on them, unless it's hot.

DRYSOL WARNING!!

I used this stuff when I was in high school, and I used it a little too much I believe. It made the armpit skin chafe really painfully, and eventually peel off like a sunburn. If you get this stuff, don't use too much or use it too often. It is potent.

I had this problem eventually go away over time, I think with drinking more water and taking vitamins. I used to drink A LOT of coffee, don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Tight fitting shirts could be the problem too. You need some air to circulate... think of all the places that air doesnt reach.. you start sweating there first.

I have the exact same problem. If I put on deodorant before I sleep I stay perfectly dry the whole next day, but if I put it on after I shower during the day my armpits are constantly moist and leave a wet mark, even if I'm not doing anything that might make me sweaty.

I often just put deodorant on and then just chill for 15 or 20 minutes, followed by wiping them with a tissue or something and then I don't get the wetness at all. Or sometimes I just put on a stupid shirt that I'm not going to wear out and hang out for awhile then change shirts and I'm fine.

I have/had this same problem. The only thing that ever worked for me is degree stick deodorant. Everything else just makes me sweat more.

DRYSOL WARNING!!.

Oh yes the stuff burns like hell. It has never peeled my skin though. I think it sears shut the sweat glands :) I use it perhaps once a month not every month. I started using it in my mid 20's. It started in high school. I would sweat in loose or tight t shirts. I would sweat in the cold. It was embarrassing and a lot of work to hide it.

Hyperhydrosis affects many people. The main trouble spots on the body for this problem are the armpits, palms of hands, bottom of feet and the forehead.

There are several ways to fix the problem. The most radical is surgery, where they do keyhole surgery and cut the nerve that produces sweat in the armpit area.
The second is botox injections which are effective but need to be repeated and can be painful.
The third is a high aluminium based deodourant which acts to block the sweat glands thus stopping excessive sweat in the localised area. In Australia we have such a product called Driclor. It can be purchased at any chemist unscripted and costs around $30. It is a roll-on deodourant and is white in colour with blue writing.
I had fairly bad under arm sweat issues until I started using Driclor. I will warn you it is quite painful when applied. It produces a stinging tingling sensation which makes sleeping that night quite hard and uncomfortable. When I first started using it I think part of the reason I was getting so sore from it was through over application (at one point I actually had to get out of bed at night and have a shower because the pain was that bad), but now when I apply I use cotton swabs so as to get a thin and even application and reduce the uncomfortable sensation.
I only use it now about once every one to two weeks and stay completely dry throughout this time. I have had my first bottle for probably around a year and it still isn't empty so its a good investment for piece of mind. You will still get the sensation of sweating under you arms which took me quite a while to get my head around but you will infact be dry. Also your body may compensate for the reduced amount of sweat production and you may begin to sweat in other areas such as from the front of your chest or your palms. I have noticed my palms sweat more than they used to but I'd rather that than the alternative.
There have been studies into the effect of aluminium on the body but I honestly don't think using this product once every 7-14 days will hurt too much.
Check it out, it will be the answer to your prayers. I know it was to mine!
Also when using Dryclor be sure to apply it only at night when the sweat glands are less active for it to be fully effective.
