I'm currently on suboxone 16mg/day, and I have noticed that I sweat profusely after taking it. I was wondering if maybe it was due to the naloxone? I don't want to stop taking subs, so I was hoping that I maybe switching to subutex might decrease my sweating??? Any advise/opinions/experience? Thanks in advance for your help.

No, the naloxone in suboxone is basically innactive as buprenorphine has a much higher affinity to the brains opiate receptors than naloxone does, even when used IV. Also, when taken sublingually, naloxone is barely absorbed at all as it is.

Buprenorphine is known for being a more stimulating opioid, and I've heard quite a few people complain of this side effect. It's unlikely that switching to subutex will make much of a difference.

Yes! Quitting opiates causes your body to be very delicate regarding sweatting. If i dont use for a few hours and take a walk outside id start sweating almost immediately. And this happends with ALL my friends, so its not just us.

You just have to give your body time to adjust to not having Opiates. Switching to subutex is not going to change anything

sweating seems to e a pretty common side affect from using suboxone, subutex, even methadone.. So switching to subutex will not make a difference. I have heard of alot of people having this problem but unfortunatly i don't think there is anything you can do to help stop the sweating...

Yea it's just the Suboxone, or should I say the buprenorphine that is causing it. Some people sweat from a number of opioids, so it's not uncommon. I did however find that Suboxone caused more sweating in me than the others. It would only happen when I was being active, which given how much it stimulated me was often.

The dose likely has a lot to do with it. When I was on a high dose I would sweat profusely while cleaning, etc, but I haven't noticed that effect when I have taken lower (≤ 4mg) doses. I'm not on maintenance anymore though, and rarely take Suboxone now.

Id say your on too much suboxone, you can cut that dose in half and not notice a drop in effectiveness. I found that the lower I dropped my dose the better I felt and the side effects lessened.

^hell yeah
When I took suboxone, the only way I could make it work out for me was by tapering down below four milligrams. The side effects at higher dosages interfered too much with my life and I felt lethargic and depressed. IMO, taking over 8mg of suboxone is really just wasting it, as that ammount will both sufficiently block other opiates as well as keep withdrawals at bay for over 24 hours (depending on metabolism.. And of course some people can still get high on top of 8mg, but the majority can't, or the effects of full agonists are drastically reduced.).

At four milligrams, the side effects are greatly decreased, and each dose of suboxone begins to produce more mood elevating effects. When I had tapered down to .5 mg 2xday my doses felt very similar to methadone.

The first time I tried bube (subutex) I asked about side effects before filling the prescription and the nurse the #1 complaint was excessive sweating. I would say that it is not the naloxone causing the sweating. I don't know the chemistry/physiology behind it but at 8mg/day I was having major sweats that lasted <5min but I hated them. 60 degrees F. outside and I looked like I had run 10k.

You know, I use to to sweat like a mofo before subs. Now that I take subs I actually sweat less. Maybe it's because my pain is more under control and I'm less stressed out. Do you think it might be because of the mental aspect of being on subs and not your D.O.C.?
