Suspected 4-fluoroamphetamine reagent testing

I recently came into the possession of what I was told is 4-fluroamphetamine (4-FA). It's appearance was bright white, with noticeable crystal shards if I looked hard enough. From it's physical appearance, it looks very pure. However, when I tested it with Marquis reagent, I did not get the results that I expected. From the few testing reports I have found online, it should have turned a color somewhere between the range of orange and brown. When I tested it, there was no color change, but it fizzed a little, and produced vapor (I say vapor, because I am not sure if "smoke" is the proper term. It did appear like smoke though).

From my research, the only substances that I found that would produce smoke was very pure MDMA and DXM. However, I read that the pure MDMA will eventually turn purple, so I would have expected my sample to change color as well. My test kit is about a year old, so it is possible that the reagents have degraded, but I have stored it in the refrigerator when not in use. Has anyone else had this reaction with confirmed 4-FA? Does anyone have any test results for other reagents included in the EZ Test Complete kit? Can anyone offer any explanation other than "it is DXM" or some other undetermined chemical? I realize that nobody here is able to tell me exactly what I have, solely based upon my description, but maybe somebody can provide me with more information, so that I can safely figure it out myself.

mephedrone also produces smoke and fizzes instead creating a colour, but I think i read somewhere that 4-fa is doing that too? but maybe im wrong. You have some other reagents then marquis? I think hydrochlorides often react like that. I also read somewhere that (think it was TheAzo but not sure) was able to get a colour out of mephedrone when he used more substance, formed a pile out of it and put a small drop in the middle of the pile, it als fizzed but he as able to see a yellowish colour.

If you dare to try you could insufflate a small ammount, if this burns like fucking hell you have a good chance to have real 4-fa ^^

Fizzing and no colour change could be benzylpiperazine.
Would make sense as a substitute for 4-FMP/4-FA, only not sure if it's cheaper...

I have an update about this. Shortly after making my original post, I realized that there was a misunderstanding, and I actually received suspected 4-fluro-methamphetamine. Since this time, I have sampled this material in doses ranging from 5-30 mgs (oral). I felt threshold effects at 10 mgs, and a calm stimulation, with mild mood lift at 30 mgs. The primary effects last for about 4-6 hours, with residual effects lasting about another 4-6. There is not much of a come-down, but it was difficult to sleep without benzos. (NOTE: I am usually sensitive to stimulants) The effects and duration seem to match that of 4-FMA.
