Supps to take before bed that improve the morning

Hey all,

I just posted something about supps to take that may improve cognition, energy, and motivation in the evenings after work. I'm also interested in supplements that could improve my mornings. I know that there are countless options for supps to take upon waking up in the morning that will make your morning great. But, I'm looking for something to help me wake up with more pep and motivation. I doubt theres anything to help with this apart from sticking to a consistent sleep schedule, but heck, it's worth a shot to see if anyone has experienced anything out there.

I really struggle with waking up early for work. I do it, because I know I've gotta. But man do I feel awful. I literally wake up at the very last minute possible so I won't be late to work. And the thing is, I'm fine after being awake for 15-20 minutes. It's just that initial rise and shine that is just awful. It's like I'm a different person. I can prepare myself to wake up earlier the night prior, and sometimes this helps a little, but most of the time, I just want to keep sleeping. I feel like I'm not the only one experiencing this. I don't think it's abnormal at all, but if theres anything anyone has done to wake up with pep and spirit in the morning and not feel like a mindless sleep zombie, please post any experiences or advice.

Take Care,

Green

You're better off maintaining a consistent schedule or dealing with the consequences than trying to medicate what sounds like pretty normal behaviour

Just work on your willpower. You could put your alarm on the other side of the room perhaps? The alarm clock on my phone has a setting that requires you to do a maths problem before it switches off - this could work to transition you through that window between 'disregard world acquire sleep' -> 'ok im awake and functioning'. Or get into the habit of, every morning, bolting upright in bed and shouting FUCK YEAH IM READY! Don't think drugs are gonna help you, you just need training :P

I do the same thing, getting up at the very last minute. even if my phone is all the way across the room I leap up, shut it off and immediately go back to sleep. It's instinct at this point.

Putting your alarm some place where you´ll have to get up in order to turn it off is good advice, but make sure that you have an alarm which is loud enough for you to wake up every day, no matter how deep you´re sleeping.
Im also pretty tired upon wakening and I do the following.
First off, I try to get out of bed as soon as I wake up which is pretty easy for me after 7-8 hours sleep but less than that and I often fail to get up right away.
When Im up, I take a few splashes of cold water straight to the face and then I drink some water followed by 10-30 minuts of sitting in front of one of those artificial lights made for SAD patients.
This light will wake you up by creating the right circumstances for wakening so that the release of Melatonin is stopped, thus making you less "groggy". Im sure there are other things in work too, but I only know about the Melatonin explanation on why this works.
It should be noted though, that a brief walk upon wakening is at least as effective if the sun is up while providing other benefits too.
I know this aint a "supplement to take before sleep" but it does what your looking for if (!) you have the will power to make the first move and get out of bed right upon wakening.

Well waking up at right sleep cycle is important if you want to feel energetic.

If you woke up during deep sleep you feel dizzed and want to continue to sleep no matter how much you have been sleeping.

If you have iPhone it is easy to woke up fresh everyday since you can get this Sleep Cycle alarm clock app that will monitor your sleep by the phone's motion detectors.

Check that out. It really helps me but in order for it to work you have to sleep alone in your bed since it cannot detect who is moving :)

With the same program you can monitor how much deep sleep you get each night too.

All very good advice. Except for Crashing. I drink coffee everyday. If I could find a way to pump caffeine into my blood stream 30 minutes before waking up every morning I would.

I think I'm just gonna get into the habit of getting right up as soon as that alarm fires off every morning. And Parabolan, I think having a treat or reason to wake up is a great idea. The best thing I can think of is smoking cannabis in the morning. That would certainly get me excited enough to wake up. The problem is that when I smoke cannabis early in the day, the rest of my day is one big convoluted cloud and I never get any work done. Perhaps I'll stumble upon a nice herbal blend to look forward to smoking in the morning before work that won't eff up my entire day.

One hit of crack first thing. That would get you through the first 15 minutes of your day without those dreaded droopy eyes.

you could piss yourself right as you wake up, that would probably do it. you may have to replace your mattress pretty often but I bet it's cheaper than a crack addiction.

The solution is so blindingly obvious and simple ime that I can't believe nobody has stated it yet. I used to be exactly like you, till I cut out doing drugs in the week and exercised instead. And now, like magic, I'm a morning person. The zombie-like haze I used to wake up in has been replaced with pep, motivation and actual excitement at starting the day. It took a couple of weeks, but my energy levels have gone through the roof.

This. Unfortunately.

The 'simplest' answer, people will often gloss over, but there's nothing really simple about good advice such as what you provided.

The 'simple' ( in the short term) route is to pop a cap or swallow a supplement.

There's a whole area of inquiry here... but this seems hardly the most receptive audience?
